got the same really pleased with the scanner and I am using it under windows 8 64 bit, you have to install vista driver in compatibility mode. And I use VueScan with it. Works like a dream.
So far what I know and I started few weeks back :) As for color I like fujifilm superia extra but I prefer black and white images. With those I can honestly say that those look different to digital and maybe I prefer those. I am not sold on color so far. As for cost I already started to develop...
Thanks for the critics. I have used Minolta XG-2 from late '70. I did not do pp a lot just looked at original print and looks kind of the same, It's been taken with minolta 50mm f1.7 at 1.7 so that's maybe it looks like that. Cheers
From the lowest models, sony a37, great sensor huge number of futures and low price. If you want more or you are after some specific lenses then look at nikon, canon, sony, pentax.
you really need flash even with the 50mm plus for indors you will struggle on crop sensor as your real focal length will be around 85mm. I use 50 1.4 and love it but indoors flash and bounce it of the ceiling different world. Like that one below, flash makes a difference.

Do not go "modern" way with film eos. I have canon 7d and wanted a film, cameras are cheap as peanuts so I bought monilta xg-2 with 50mm F1.7 and later on minolta X700 and sigma 28mm F2.8. Do not go autofocus route...
