    Print on demand books, self-publishing

I wondered if anyone on here has ever self-published a book. A few of my fellow photographer friends have, using Blurb. But I'm looking for some alternative companies (online) that will offer the same service. Another artist and I have been working on a art project which focuses on the town in...

DSLR recommendations for experienced photographer with zero tech knowlege, literally none!

Many many thanks to all of you. I'm going to have a trawl through the various online traders (inc second hand). I really appreciate all your recommendations. My hubby bought me my Sony to help me get back into photography, the last time I had to choose/select a make and model was back in the...

DSLR recommendations for experienced photographer with zero tech knowlege, literally none!

The sales are on and I am need of a DSLR but my techie knowledge isn’t great and when I say it isn't great, it's non-existent! I remember Canons used to be great, I loved an Olympus I once had, but this was YEARS ago, when I studied photography, and how times have changed. I'm really not at all...

    Anybody used Snapfish?

I would recommend Photobox over Snapfish. Having used both, the Photobox box prints seem far superior. Also the larger the print the better quality it seems! I used to be a printer, and only occasionally I get a print from them where I feel I could have 'enhanced' it in someway during the...

Who do you invite to a Preview Exhibition?

Thank you so much for all you kind words. Means a lot, it really does. I will post some images up of the actual event. Will definitely try the personal touch and send 'named' invites. The art College idea is a great one too. Thanks again everyone X

Who do you invite to a Preview Exhibition?

This is probably posted to an incorrect forum, so please move if needs be. I'm having a local gallery exhibit some of my work for two weeks towards the end of April. But they have asked me to hold a Preview Evening, this is great, but who do I invite? To be brutally honest most friends and...

Ideas for displaying artwork for an exhibition

Thank you everyone. sorry for the delay, i wanted to check out a few options before responding. Duncan. thankyou it didn't occur to me to try Ikea, I've had a browse on their online store and they have some simple black A2 frames, these will be perfect. A simple black frame is just what I was...

Ideas for displaying artwork for an exhibition

You're absolutely right! My style (for this exhibition) is quite dark / alternative and I suppose a little bit theatrical, the gallery is a very old quirky place and the artwork for their exhibitions is hung on metal mesh on the walls. Due to the nature of the artwork for this exhibition I would...

Ideas for displaying artwork for an exhibition

I need some help, some ideas and inspiration for an upcoming exhibition. I've never had an exhibition before and was over the moon to be given the opportunity, however I now have the daunting task of having my work printed, mounted & framed and the cost is a little daunting. I could get away...

What aspects of DSLRs are the most important, looking to upgrade.

Thank you all very much. I suppose the main objectives I need to factor in is the ability to enhance the images in Photoshop. As I mainly deal with design I often need to to take images which then need to be processed digitally, would a higher MP count benefit me there?

What aspects of DSLRs are the most important, looking to upgrade.

A bit of a newbie question, be warned. I studied photography eons ago (well it feels that way) there were darkrooms and manual lenses that needed focusing with bellows and all sorts. Chemicals, vats of the stuff, and only the students with a bit of extra loose change had motordrives. So when...

    Fussy subjects

Thanks for all your support, I really do appreciate it. It's a toughie taking photos of people when A. You're not used to it and B. there really isn't much of a brief to work from. 23rd man you have a great point, I think this maybe one of the reasons they are unhappy, with many of the photos...

    Fussy subjects

Thanks Sunnyside. I think it's probably fair to say don't ask a graphic designer to do a photographer's job. Ha ha! I like some of the less portrait images the more figure-within-environment type picures. But I was trying to explain to them that complex yoga poses make for strained faces which...
