Canon 5D or Canon 5D Mk II?

I want to get back into my landscape photography, after spending the last couple of years concentrating on wildlife. I also want to get a full frame camera (i.e. a 5D). The thing is do I: a) Get a second hand 5D (how much on ebay, by the way?); or, b) Save up another month or two...

    Second hand canon gear advice....

Thanks for the help. I managed to get both a 1D Mk2 and a 100 - 400mm lens off ebay for a grand total of £1465. Got them both this morning. Absolutely chuffed with them.:) I have to really struggle to see anything wrong with either. I have to say these are probably the biggest bargains...

    Second hand canon gear advice....

Thanks for the advice. Just picked up a Canon 1D Mk 2 for £565 on ebay. Quite pleased, I think it will be a lot of camera for that money. It will be great to have better AF for in-flight bird shots. Right now for a new lens.........:)

    Second hand canon gear advice....

I'm looking to buy a used canon 1D mk2 canon body soon and a 100-400mm lens (probably from ebay). What do you reckon these are going for just now? I'm thinking around £800 for each of them. Do you think this is realistic? Also, would you rather have a new Canon 7D or a used Canon 1D mk 2...

Looking to update Canon camera body, any advice?

I will have to update my camera bag. Not got the 500mm anymore (:shake:) or the 17-40. So, I guess a new landscape lens is in the equation aswell. Got a Sigma 10-20, but this will be no use on a 5D.

Looking to update Canon camera body, any advice?

Thanks for all the advice. I think I will try to pick up a used Canon 1D II or IIN and then save up for the 5D mark II. I've always fancied a 1D series camera for the better AF capabilities over the 40D. I do more wildlife stuff anyway. Thanks again:)

Looking to update Canon camera body, any advice?

I'm considering updating my camera bodies soon and have a few options. I currently have a 40D and a 30D, but thinking of getting either: A used 1D mk2 and used 5D (mk 1); A new 7D and keep my 40D; A new 5D (mk 2) and keep my 40D. I mainly ONLY do wildlife and landscape photography...

How much for my year old canon 500mm lens?

I can't even believe I'm contemplating selling this excellent lens (particularly after my last thread), but times are tough at the moment and I have to look at all avenues (photography is just a hobby for me afterall). If (and a big IF!) I decided to sell my canon 500mm lens, which is in...

    What's your favourite lens?

If you had to keep just one lens what would it be? Mine would be my Canon 500mm f4 (closely followed by my canon 24-70 f2.8). I've had other lenses in the past and sold them cos I wasn't that impressed with them and didn't use them much (e.g. canon 70-200mm f2.8). I'm thinking of...

L glass running through my head

I would recommend the 24-70mm 2.8. Other than my 500mm f4, this is the best lens I have, produces lovely images and excellent in low light.:)

    Farne Islands.

I absolutely love the Farnes, and go at least twice a year. It is so busy with birds in the summer months. I would recommend: A hat to protect your head from the terns. loads of memory cards (as you'll need them!). Doing the 2 Island tour, as you get loads of time to phptgraph the birds...

    THE BIG QUESTION!!!!

Blokes are women are equal in terms of photography. However, don't ask women about the workings of an internal combustion engine, or ask them to reverse park the car. :exit: Ow!! I've just got a clip around the ear from wor lass!! :'(

Advice on sharpening with PS elements 5, please.

Hi, I would really appreciate any advice on the best/ quickest way to sharpen images, shot in raw, using PS elements 5. I have used auto sharpen in the past, but is this the best method, or are there alternatives that give better results? Any advice would be very welcome cheers, Mark.:)

Oh no, my canon 40D has died on me, please help!

Thanks for all the advice so far. I will endevour to carry out what has been suggested. I've been using the camera body with my 500mm lens and my 70-200mm lens. I've just tried it with my 24-70 and get the same problem. So, I reckon its definetly a problem with the body. This is the first...
