Budget 70-300mm zoom for Nikon D90

If you always use a tripod to still object or under a bright environment, then Nikon 70-300mm G (Non VR) and Tamron 70-300 are both cheap and good quality. Sigma 70-300mm APO is much better with a small higher price. However I personally believe that 'stable' is more important than 'sharp' or...

    Nikon D3000

I am using D5000 now. The biggest difference between D3000 and D5000 includes : 1. turnable lcd moniter. 2. CCD and CMOS 3. Vedio function. So I think D3000 is a simplised D5000. The advantage is its light weight. Easy to carry everywhere. But you have limited choice on camera lens...

    LX3, G10 or something else ?

I had LX2 and am having G9 with me now. Canon G9,G10 are more solid and powerful on control in my opintion. Lx2 is like a compact camera, but G9 is a bridge camera level. Which is better? I don't know. Have you seen Ricoh GR-D? It is fixed focus lens. Very good to carry with all the time.

    Lens designations (Nikon related)

Normally yes, but not always. Sigma also gets some lens with motor built in for Nikon f-mount but not HSM. HSM means hyper sonic motor, which is better than normal motor. Just like SWM silent wave motor. There is no special name for Tamron lens or Tokina lens. But they also get some lens with...

thoughts on nikon d90 kit lens 18-105vr Vs. Tamron 28-75 f2.8?

What do you expect for the lens? I would say 18-135 if that is your only lens. It is much useful in all time than 28-75. But if you decide to have more than one lens, I would vote for 28-75mm, or even 17-50 f2,8. And then you can easily have another good 55-200 or 70-300mm to fit the rest...

Best SLR System for Landscapes / Architecture

For nomal landscape, there are many choice. Almost all the mid-level DSLR can take good landscape. But if you are talking about serious architectural photography, you may consider FF camera with 35mm or 28mm PC lens, apart from normal extra-wide lens and normal zoom lens.

    Windows 7 64-bit & CS3 - will it work?

Just check your C driver. CS3 will be put into the /program files(x86), which means it runs as 32 bit. I run 64bit Windows 7. It works, in 32 bit mode.

    Buying Equipment in Asia

Well, if you were charged by the UK Customer then is could be more expensive indeed. But I think either you claim for the tax refund or not in other country won't affect the status at the UK Custom. The UK Custom will charge you custom duty because they think that you are importing goods more...

    AF-S compatible low “f” lenses

It is true. There are only three f1.4 and one f1.8 AF-S lens on the market now. They are Nikon 50 f1.4g, Sigma 30mm f1.4, Sigma 50mm f1.4 and Nikon 35mm f1.8.

    Best portrait lens

Canon 50mm f1.4 is a good choice. A great indoor portrait lens for most professional and family photography. And most important thing is that the price is reasonable. The only thing you need to adapt with this lens is always put yourself in a correct position. But there is no 'BEST' lens. The...
