    Newb with a dilemma?

Get a D200, alot of Canon guys and girls have been converted to it after seeing the shots i get from my gear :) and I have to say that the Canon bodies in the same price range feel very cheap and tacky compared to my D200. Thats what made me go Nikon in the first place

Best free or less than $30 FTP loader?

I have tried most, as I have been a web developer for the past 7 years.

    Off-Camera flash setup

I have a D200 and SB-800, and use them in manual mode on all my shoots. I find using auto settings and TTL is a pain and you dont get nice dramatic shots, instead you just get plain boring lighting. I use Cactus triggers and i love them, i found CLS was pretty useless on outside location shoots

Nikon D200: shuld I be buying shares in EON?

I dont know why lots post saying they get poor battery life on the D200. One battery would easily last me two, five hour shoots shooting in raw

    Ebay triggers .

get some cactus triggers from gadgetinfinity. Lots of us 'strobists' have them and they are much better than most 'ebay' triggers and only £15 :)

    Laptops....

I have just bought myself a top spec Dell Studio 17 and its amazing. Also its a 17 inch screen laptop and has a 512mb gfx card 4gb ram and the best Intel CPU on the market. Its great for Lightroom crunching :)

Using SB-800 flash wirelessly with D300

set the onboard flash to '--' in the commander mode. that way it will only emit the pre flash info for the cls and not affect your shot.

Here's one for the Nikon CLS crowd...

You can use your camera to trigger any type of remote flash gun, however you wont be able to use the CLS meaning you wont be able to control the power of the flash from your camera. So the short answer is no, you wont be able to use CLS with other flashes remotely

    Nikon MC-36 Remote Shutter Release

David, I bought a remote shutter release for my D200 off of Ebay which plugs in and has all the controls of a normal shutter with hold etc. Works a treat and I think i paid about £6 for it

Upgraded the D70 after much deliberation...

I get really good battery life without a grip with my D200, 1 battery would easily last a 5 hour shoot.. Maybe your battery has had it fracster.
