The all new Staff Photo of the Week : Week 28 (w/c. 8th July)

The way you can see the seabed in the foreground elevates this above normal seascapes IMO.

    Tesco enabling copyright infringements

Wouldn't their rights be laid out in the contract, so they could be zero, or they could own copyright of the work outright, or somewhere in between?

Wouldn't it be nice to get some decent shots in the Museums?

The Victoria & Albert museum is reasonable but most things are under glass

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

Photographs are sold in this way, they are called limited edition prints, someone may scan one and post it on the internet but a printed copy of that scanned image will never be worth anything more than it's 'decorative' value. Part of the value in anything is knowing who created it and seeing...

The all new Staff Photo of the Week : Week 27 (w/c. 1st July)

Really good shot and colours, why was the ant on the water?

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

Agree, I was just providing some counter evidence against the 'photos are going to be worthless any day now' views exprssed by some.

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

Wouldn't Rhein II by Andreas Gursky be more relevant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhein_II I think the market for high end photographic prints is growing, all the Global auction houses have photography departments and run photography auctions (I don't think that was the case 20 years...

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

That makes sense to me and if you have another income I can see the complexity of declaring earnings for sporadic payments makes it too bothersome. Can't agree with that at all, people like looking at images they don't have to be one time events to invoke pleasure or emotion in the viewer. If...

    Flickr video help please

Try downloading the free Google Chrome browser, it has Adobe Flash deeply embedded in the browser (I'm assuming Flikr uses Flash to play videos, it's the normal choice on the web). If that works you'll know it is some problem with IE10, which I would guess is the most likely culprit.

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

Another more recent example is the photo shoot Kevin Cummins did for the NME of Joy Division. http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2011/oct/02/photograph-kevin-cummins-best-shot#zoomed-picture The writer Paul Morely was recently bemoaning the fact his words for the accompanying article...

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

There is an element of that, on the other hand as in the film already mentioned Play, Pause, Rewind says Art is elitist, not everyone has a book, score, painting in them. Technology does make these things easier to produce but as a consumer what will you choose to spend your time and money on...

    Flickr video help please

Is it the one of the Little Owl eating a worm you posted a link to? Works fine for me, I can watch it repeatedly without touching the cache on my machine. Which browser are you using, have you tried a different one? Could be a problem with Adobe flash player on the browser you are using, though...

    Inexpensive backdrop

No, similar to a camera tripod I suppose, depends how big the bag/case is. If you go for a fabric backdrop that is more of a problem, but can be carried separately.

    Good S/H websites?

Registered for more than 2 months and 25 posts IIRC, so you should be able to view the classifieds, I could once I got to 25 posts.

    Feedback required

I like the photos and the minimalist design, haven't read all the text, prefer it as a few pages rather than one long one, but I can understand why you went for one page instead. I never saw the previous version.
