    Film Scanner Problem.

Sounds like a stepper motor problem. That will produce thin lines, Most probably your scanners up the shoot and slipping on the stepper belt, try re-scanning at a different Resolution and keep your fingers crossed it re-sets itself.

    What software has created this

It's called Portrait Professional, just google it. You can tell it's that as the image is pretty crude on smoothing in the skins tones and blurs out on the edges, Priced at £49 for the cheap version.

Any experience of one-shot panoramic lenses?

Yep, I used a 0-360 and also a Kaidan, They're OK if used for a small viewer, but anything more than around 400x400pixels and they're useless.

Looking at used Macbook's, what to look out for?

I run both PC and Macs in a Pro environment. For Web Browsing & Office, file compatibility get a PC, both will run Photoshop fine. yes the Mac will be better but will cost double even more when you add in the cost of Photoshop. You can get a fast Used PC Laptop such as a Dell XPS for around...

    Whats HDR?

Stands for High Dynamic Range, A HDR shot involves making a composite of usually three different exposures with bracketing, so you have all the Shadow detail with a long exposure and also keeping all the highlights in with a shorter exposure, and then a normal exposure for all the middle bits...

    72dpi to 300dpi batch process

I've been into Repro for 20+ year myself. If the end result is Litho, then most pro's will resize to the correct size at 300dpi, easier to work with and faster to import at roughly the correct size of usage. If you put a 150cm image at 72dpi straight from a camera into a page layout programme...

All those were taken Hand Held, Take around 10 shots of each item once you get a nice flat image, ie. no overly highlights or flash highlights etc, don't worry about any shadows unless they interfere with the product, Your looking for a clean cut out in photoshop, use the Magic Wand Selector or...

    Product photography hints and tips?

Best advice is get a flat picture, no shadows, super sharp, high Aperture, shoot on a Blue/Green Background and cut the image out in photoshop. I'm regularly taking product shots for various print related material. You don't need expensive equipment to take good product shots. All these were...

    A gripe about Panoramas

Don't worry about it, people don't really realise what your doing and by the time they've figured it out I'm usually walking off in the opposite direction.

    A gripe about Panoramas

I obtained an Ipix Rotator but the software was locked as it was based on a Pay Per Pano system. I started then using PTMac and Messing with Apple Quick Time VR Authoring Studio, I found many give inconsistent results. Nowadays I'm using custom built Templates for use with PTMac. Sometimes it...

    A gripe about Panoramas

Give it a go, it's often frustrating but persevere and you'll get there in the end. Taken me around 7 years to get where I am today with them. Started off on an old ipix system, I find them the most interesting kind of photography, thats why I keep at it. I do a lot of boring stuff such as...
