That's naughty selling it as an 8X zoom, when it's just digital cropping.

I readily accept that mobile phones have decimated the sales of digital cameras, but not so much that of super zoom compacts. I would have thought so anyway.

Thank you for that, one learns something every day..... At £470 (or £500 with a full warranty for two years) I will equivocate for somewhat longer. Maybe a second hand TZ70, 80 or 90 from CEX (I believe they come with a 5 year warranty, though I am dubious about what that actually covers ! ) ?

I had the same with my Panasonic cameras. In fact I also found that if any editing at all has been done to the image it would also fail to display it correctly.
