    Lightroom 2 Beta installer

Yeah I have, but it didn't seem to do anything. Having said that, it now appears to have fixed itself and is letting me uninstall it via Programs and Features. Where would we be without Windows's strange idiosyncrasies :p

Do you know your shutter count?

Not bad shooting! 4500 since April 25th.

    Lightroom 2 Beta installer

This is a slightly odd request, but does anyone have this installer on their computer still? I'm trying to uninstall the Beta via Programs and Features in Vista but there's no uninstall option there – the installer itself has the option to uninstall so I think this is the only way I can get...

    What I wouldn't give for all of those plus a D700 :p

    D80 for a newbie?

I think I used auto mode on my D80 for the first few photos I took but then started playing with P and A and never went back to auto. P should be fine for a beginner really, after all it's exposure that's the hardest part to grasp and P does that for you.

    D80 for a newbie?

Hehe don't get me wrong it's mostly not that noticeable. Just me being picky. It is known for having odd bokeh though.

    D80 for a newbie?

Sorry :p Basically the 18-200mm isn't flawless but it's certainly very good considering the zoom range (about 11x) and the price. For £750 with a D200 it's a steal; my D80 and 18-200mm cost me £900 new :(

    D80 for a newbie?

Yeah the 18-200mm isn't without its flaws; it's quite slow, suffers from vignetting, CA, barrel-distortion at the wide end, and distorted bokeh. But these problems don't impact IQ too much, and when you consider its versatility it's well worth the cash :)

    D80 for a newbie?

Good deal there, take it :) Only downside is you won't have much reach with a 17-50. If you want a lens that can do wide angle and telephoto then your only real choices are the Sigma 18-200mm and Nikon 18-200mm (the latter being better but more expensive).

    Tripod advice

It'll do the trick if you just want a cheap tripod, but don't expect too much from it; it's made mostly from plastic, with the legs and centre column being aluminium, and the build quality isn't great. If you want a longer lasting and sturdier tripod for slightly more money I'd recommend a...

Same here, although I have a Redsnapper head on mine. Couldn't be happier :)

My Take on a Painting Effect

It's not bad, but the bokeh really doesn't agree with it. When you're painting something, you generally don't paint the background out of focus :p

    Tripod Advice - £110 Budget !!

I've heard it's pretty heavy; 3.2kg doesn't seem too light to me!

    Lens Spec question.... Aperture related.

Not necessarily true, as the framing of the shot is changing, which may result in it getting darker over all (i.e. if the lighter bits get cropped out). Depending on your metering mode the camera may try to compensate by bumping the exposure up, thus changing shutter speed ;)
