    Gear Insurance Claims

I guess it cost them too much to fund everyone else's claims! Haha. Did you have a bad experience?

    Gear Insurance Claims

I use a company called E&L (equine and livestock) yep so not a special photographic insurer. However you list your kit along with each items value. You also get 10m public liability which you should have if you are working in public! That is really important if you ever want to be paid for...

    Jessops

Already said that in OP "not looking to buy anything bigger (lenses etc) right now" ;)

    Jessops

That's exactly what I found! except on bags, they seem to be the cheapest place to get a Lowepro bag.

    Macro - Lights or Lens

Take a look at the new 60mm Nikon Micro lens. It's a DX format lens and will work nicely with your camera. The downside for you I guess is that it won't always work with all TCs

    Second shooter kit

It does help to have the same kit. It means you can use each others lenses, batteries, chargers etc if needs be. Having the same camera also helps when editing as the images will be the same quality.

    Macro lens for Nikon

I would look at the Nikon 60mm Macro. It's a DX lens suited to the types of camera you mention, you could try renting one first if you wanted to test out the 3rd party lenses.

    london camera exchange

I went to the one in Reading, none of the staff had ever heard of elinchrom skyports. However at least they know what modes a camera has unlike Jessops where I was told that A mode was great for sports - sorry I only shoot on manual.

    CF vs SD

I was wondering what the benefits of CF and SD cards are over each other. What would make a manufacturer choose to have a CF slot or an SD slot, why do Pro cameras use only CF cards, when for size an SD card is more convenient?

Portraits is the 17-50 on a DX too short?

You could always stand a bit closer. ;)

    CF cards

I always buy 8GB SanDisk Extremes. These retail at about £60 but you can get them on Amazon for under £30 http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Extreme-Compact-Flash-Cards/dp/B002NO7Q26/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334386514&sr=8-2 These give me a nice bit of room, and are not big enough to shoot for...
