Yosemite is possibly the most beautiful place i have ever been to. Try to get up to Glacier Point in Yosemite , high above the valley floor , you can drive up there , wonderful views of Half Dome.

Yes it was Yugoslavia then , as you quite rightly say and yes just before the war, during which Dubrovnik was quite badly damaged but i believe it has all been restored now. I can't remember the location of the second one but obviously it was taken from high up in the hills overlooking the town...
