Damaged lens mount dust seal Sigma 150-600

Update for the record I mailed Sigma UK and asked if they could supply a replacement rubber. It turns out the rubber itself is not a separate part, it's integral to the metal mount but they were able to supply that for about 30 quid. Simple enough replacement, took 10 mins. Sorted.

Damaged lens mount dust seal Sigma 150-600

Thanks, I had heard that lens manufacturers don't usually sell parts to consumers but it's worth a try. Third-party seals for some Sigma lenses are available very cheaply but I haven't found one for this particular model.

This should be a simple replacement job, one that I'd be perfectly happy to tackle.

Damaged lens mount dust seal Sigma 150-600

I have lost a small chunk of the rubber dust seal of my Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary lens (see images below). Does anyone know where I might get a replacement rubber seal for a DIY repair?

    Buying from Panamoz

When using BACS you don't have S75 protection at all (unless you pay part directly on your credit card, as the OP points out). As Panamoz use PayPal, I concluded (rightly or wrongly) that S75 wouldn't apply anyway, so I elected to pay via BACS and get the 5% discount. I probably wouldn't have...

    Car adapter for Canon charger

I read some scare stories about 3rd party chargers potentially toasting genuine batteries. Don't know what the real risk is but I wouldn't want to faff with having one charger for genuines, another for 3rd parties. Like you, I might never actually need to charge in the car in practice. The...

    Car adapter for Canon charger

Very kind of you to offer, but I think I'm warming to the idea of an inverter myself. Which one did you go for?

    Car adapter for Canon charger

It's a thought - certainly more generally useful. A bit of overkill if a simple cigar-lighter -> euro plug lead would do though.

    Batteries

Thanks all - I've ordered a 7DS one. I don't know how picky they are about the manufacturers they choose for their branded stuff so Duracell might be a safer bet, but I'll see how it goes.

    Batteries

Thanks for that. My wife actually mentioned that she found one on 7DS but I didn't get around to checking it out because I got side tracked by the Duracell one. That's available from AcerDirect at just under nine quid, so the 7DS one isn't that much cheaper. As you say though, it has an extra...

    Car adapter for Canon charger

I see that some third-party camera battery chargers available from the likes of eBay seem to come with a 12V car input lead as well as a mains lead. My Canon LC-E8E (for LP-E8 batteries) came with a mains input lead only. Does anyone know whether a car adapter is available for these chargers, or...

    Batteries

I've read a number of comments about third-party batteries, from "perform better than the originals" to "barge pole job". Although I wouldn't be too concerned about a cheapo battery having a relatively short lifetime, I'm a bit more wary about suggestions that they may lack the circuitry that...

    Buying from Panamoz

Thanks very much for that - especially: That makes perfect sense to me.

    Buying from Panamoz

OK, for the record, an update as promised. I requested details for placing an order with a BACS payment on Monday afternoon. By the time the details came through and I made the payment it was after office hours UK time (around 6pm I think - Hong Kong time is apparently about 7hrs later)...

    Buying from Panamoz

Thanks very much for that - it's an interesting insight. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you mind explaining a few points that might help me (and probably others) understand further how these things work? How does PayPal's system operate? Does it always operate that way (I think...
