With it fitted you don't have access to the catches at the top of the legs.. I suspect that would become a real pain over time. How about some foam tubing on the individual legs themselves? Something like this http://www.componentforce.co.uk/category/206/foam-sleeves

This seems like a perfectly acceptable reason to buy a monocle and act all posh.. You can see clearly and still have one eye free for the view finder.
