I had the sigma 105 it was very sharp but the focusing was slow and sometimes would not work(with the macro ring flash fitted it wouldn't AF at all).I saw a canon 100mm macro in Ffordes for less than £250 a few weeks ago.
Iv'e got a 450d and 40d the 40 is easier to use and has more set up options,one thing I find annoying with the 40d is the control dial on the top left of the camera is easy to change without noticing it could do with a lock.
Excellent for 1/30 sec,I was thinking of getting the 70-200 mk2 with the 1.4 and 2x mk3 teleconverters.Very tempted now to sell my 400 f5.6 and 70-200 f4.
Try taking the batteries out then putting them back in and taking the grip off then put it back together,this works on my 40d it might work with the D700.

I had a v5000 uploading a full 8gb card would take 1hour 30min at least,Iv'e now got a macbook pro and the upload speeds are so fast I don't bother timing them anymore plus i can even edit when uploading with no slow down.
