    What car do you drive?

I'm currently driving an MG ZT 190, basically a chavved up Rover 75 with a 190hp 2.5 V6 engine. I bought it back in January 2013 unseen from eBay. I spotted it, saw it was the spec/colour I was after, saw that the auction was ending soon so stuck a bid of £800 on and ended up getting it for...

    2014-2015 Slimming Thread

I've been trying to lose some weight since mid January. I'm 6'2" and my post Christmas weight was 16 stone, I'm currently at 14 stone 11 pounds and I'd ultimately like to be down to about 14, perhaps a bit less. My technique thus far has been trying to generally eat better food at regular times...

First week in March - where to go?

I'd personally go for Northern Italy. The weather shouldn't be too bad and the scenery around the mountains is very nice. There's also some lovely cities to visit such as Verona, travelling around by train is easy and cheap. Flights and accommodation are cheap at this time of year.

    Camera/phone

I went for a 2nd hand 64GB iPhone 4S and GiffGaff and I've been quite impressed with the combo. The 3G speeds aren't fantastic, but are good enough, and the camera is actually rather good. What I like the most about it compared to my old Nexus 4 is how quickly it takes a photo; several photos in...

    Nexus 7 or Nexus 10

I've had a Nexus 10 since release. It's nice when it works, but it seems inherently unstable and despite resetting it to factory settings a couple of times, it seems to have a penchant for random restarts and draining its battery randomly. I've since bought an iPad Mini with Retina which is...

Macbook Pro vs Macbook Air for photo viewing etc

The current Retina ones can't, but the non-retina one currently for sale can still be upgraded (which is now a bit of an old model), which is what I went for. At the next Macbook refresh, it's most likely that the non-retina Pro will be discontinued completely, leaving only the Macbooks with...

Macbook Pro vs Macbook Air for photo viewing etc

Just before Christmas, I bought a non-retina MBP for a variety of reasons. First off, upgradability. Both the Air and the Retina Pro are pretty much impossible to upgrade and designed to be 'sealed for life' whereas the non-retina MBP has upgradable RAM and HDD (I plan on adding a 500GB SSD and...

Sony A57 broken - Needs a bash to work

London Camera Exchange in Colchester. I've just looked into it a bit more, and it just has a 1 year warranty. Balls. I think it may actually be a slightly dodgy lens contact which is the problem. I took the lens off, pressed them all down and tried to wipe them and now it seems to be fine. It's...

Sony A57 broken - Needs a bash to work

Yeah, loose connections is my thought, given that banging it seems to make it work. Very annoying; hoping it's under warranty although I can't seem to find a mention of the warranty period anywhere. Anyone know the best way to go about reporting it to Sony? I've found a section to book a repair...

Sony A57 broken - Needs a bash to work

I bought my Sony A57 in June 2012 and have been very happy with it generally; however, it has developed a problem fairly recently. Basically, it doesn't seem to start up fully. It shows part of the on screen display but not the rest, it won't autofocus, it won't adjust to light and none of the...

    Elemental Iceland

Went in February with 3 friends and hired a car, would love to go back again at some point, most enjoyable holiday I've had in a very long time and although the weather was quite wet most of the time, we still managed to see an amazing display of the northern lights. Chances are I'll try the...

    Car tyres a minefield ?

As mentioned above, Tyrereviews is a good site. I ended up going for Falken ZE914 tyres when my MG ZT needed its rears replacing, I've been quite happy with them and will be replacing the fronts with the same once they're worn out. The general consensus is to avoid the really cheap ones, like...

    Ipad Air

I bought one for my Dad, it's very nice. It feels less solid than the previous iPads, but that's to be expected as it's a lot less hefty. I don't have an iPad myself (I have a Nexus 10) so I've got nothing to compare the speed with, but it all seems very snappy and smooth.

Buy a MacBook Pro - Questions?

Just a quick question. I'm now looking at a brand new non retina MBP to retain some upgradability, I'd also would be looking at buying some Apple Care so I'm covered for 3 years. My question is, if I choose to upgrade the RAM/HDD, does that void the Apple Care?

Buy a MacBook Pro - Questions?

One of my fears with the rMBP is that I intend to run a Windows installation alongside (most likely 7, as I prefer it and have a spare license) and without all the scaling in OSX, surely the size of the everything on the screen in Windows will be miniscule. Also means games will be far more...
