Pocket wizards do pick up interferrence from canon flashes, they sell a cover to go over the pw to stop this , nikons may have that problem as well but never heard of it.

if the flash head has not been used for some years it will be dead and no volts will be on the capacitor, more of a problem is if the unit has not been used for years it may not charge up well and give problems. how many years has it been unused, what make / model is it. try to charge it up...

There are no spares around for these old flashes, i dont take them in for repair anymore, no point. i did find 2 flash tubes for a studio last year but it was a strugle. good lights when new but that was 20 years ago.

most modern studio flash units i see in my workshop will fire with very poor camera contacts and conections. 30 years ago you needed good sync leads for it all to work 100%. Things have improved and now the latest bowens flash will fire with 5000 ohms across the jack socket, thats about 20...

These sort of spots were all the rage years ago, we used to make some to fit bowens flash. the big problem is the heat as you need the model lamp on full to see whats going on and the heat produced is a major drawback. the range of rosco gobo's is vast over 900 types all for around £ 6.00 each...

when i run a big hire studio in london years ago we painted the coves in white emulsion paint, on a fashion shoot i would touch up the floor during the lunch break, we painted the cove floors most days, get used to it. David

The missfire bleep is often a worn out flash tube, they are user replaceable, you could have swopped the tube from the working head to try out, flash tube wont be covered by the warranty.
