    Body or Glass...

Your current body will benefit far more from new and better lenses than your current lenses will benefit from a new body. Unless there is something fundamentally wrong with your old body spend money on better glass.

MINOLTA 50MM F1.4 MD ROKKOR PRIME

I have an MC Rokkor PG 50/1.4. Its a nice lens with great bokeh and wonderful build quality. But mine is not incredibly sharp wide open. Stopped down its fine. I can highly recommend most of the 50/1.7 Minoltas though. I have had several and all are pretty damn sharp wide open. My favorite is...

    Why mirrorless sales are disapointing

WHAT is this continued bashing of lens size on CSC cameras? I simply dont understand it. It seems to come mostly from DSLR users when they want to come up with another made up problem about CSC's to prove why they are silly cameras. Please observe... OH NOES!!! Big ungainly lenses also...

    Why mirrorless sales are disapointing

OMG LOL Wat?! Sorry, but I call shenanigans here. As another poster already said the EVF in the X-T1 is BIGGER THEN WHATS IN THE CANON 1DX... Please view this page (scroll down a bit) for a size comparison of the Fuji against the others where they show this very fact...

DSLR: should I sell or should I not

I am a NEX 7 user/shooter of about two years now. I really love mine and the 6 isnt to much different. It actually has cleaner high ISO noise then my 7. Click on the link in my sig below and you can view my NEX 7 set on flickr. Also look at the Speedbooster set. The SB can give old legacy lenses...

Say "Goodbye" to the DSLR ?

The Lumia 1020 killing the DSLR? Hah! What a joke. We all know the Mirrorless camera will kill the DSLR. :) But seriously, for a phone this is not bad at all. Pretty damn impressive really. I researched this phone due to its camera (and the available grip for it, for whoever joked about that...

Alternatives to Canon Eyewateringly Expensice lenses

True, I had forgotten about the strength of the new Sigma offerings due to the fact I mainly shoot old legacy lenses and I havent really been keeping up with the new AF stuff. I have always admired Sigma for keeping their production in Japan and it seems that they are narrowing or completely...

Alternatives to Canon Eyewateringly Expensice lenses

This. All to true, and all to tragic. Way to much discussion on gear minutia. Not near enough on technique, fundamentals, past and present masters, motivation, creative process... But to answer the OP's question....try the Canon EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5. An older lens, but nicely made and can turn...

Controversial Topic: What irks you about other photographers?

My pet peaves...? People who list every bit of photo gear they own in their forum signature, like its a badge of honor. I really dont care what gear you have, I would rather see the photos you shoot. I hate people who steal others photos and claim they are their own...

    Flash for macro photography

Hi Tony. Unfortunately I can give you not one bit of advice about flash photography as I dont use flash at all. But I do shoot a lot of macro photography. Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth here that you dont absolutely need flash to shoot macro. Takes a bit of practice but you can use natural...

What do I need for portrait photography?

Shooting with just natural light can be fun, challenging and rewarding. Its takes a bit of practice but even when the light is not ideal you can learn to use it to your advantage. This usually involves things like changing perspective and a good understanding of some interesting post processing...

Downsizing from D700 to Fuji ???

I gave the NEX 7 a try when it came out since I was getting tired of the trade offs adapting old lenses to my Canon 40D and 5D. I made sure I bought from a place that had a great return policy. Shouldn't have bothered, my Canon gear was all gone within a month. No regrets, the NEX 7 is an...
