Considering that your requirement being a "backpack specifically for use when walking fairly long distances", probably a hiking daypack with a suitable insert would be more comfortable than a dedicated camera backpack
I also own a AM225 and never noticed the threaded hole until you just mentioned it.
It seems to be a 1/4" tapped hole so now have to find something to use with it :)
I just cut off the ends of a pair of OpTech extensions and took them to Timpson's to sew the ends of the PD links. It all looked quite professional when done

If you own an Android phone which has a USB-C connector, then just use a powered USB-C multi port/SD card reader/ hub and an SSD . The hub is very cheap from Amazon.

I've used the BYOB9 DSLR Insert for quite a while. It is very well-made and has been perfect in a couple of my hiking backpacks. I've now bought the BYOB10 due to wanting to take more lenses
I could never get to grips with Lightroom Catalog as it made little sense to me, so used Bridge instead. Everything is filed in descriptive folders, so easy to find. Nowadays, I mainly use Faststone Image Viewer to browse, rename etc. It's very quick
