This is the point. Must always remember to save NOT ONLY the raw files but also all the lightroom catalog files otherwise all the job done in lightroom will be gone!! Saving in DNG can be also one more way to avoid the problem

I suggest you to first of all edit in lighroom your shot with basic adjustment; should be enough as is really a powerful tool and if you really can't set thing there I think is better delete your shot. Usually I need just Lighroom version 3.1 Lightroom is nice but the way of photo management...

Yes I guess you right.... I think also the profile is ignored at least in RAW... but it became essential in jpg....... you use a jpg for the web >>>> srgb profile you use a jpg to print of >>>> adobe98 have wider gamut and so better compatibility with printer tone....

Depend on the photo it can help some sharpening... but i decide as last one... last step

1) check that the monitor has a correct profile installed and calibrated 2) check that all your work flow in all your applications is in srgb!! I bet is a profile problem... example: my workflow is profile in adobe98 and i print jpg with adobe98 ... ONLY before go live on my website or...

I use canon 450D like you i disabled all auto setting and shot raw neutral pictures.... using adobe98 color profile as camera profile...... the raw immage can be ugly but after few touch in lightroom magic will come!!

Is ok! I confirm it works... but better ALSO save the images as .DNG so if anything wrong with lightroom the .dng files will keep the raw info + the selections and correction you done already.... this is what DNG is
