    D4s versus D810 for planes

In that case you have the experience of the D810, it may be worth hiring a D4s to try out first.

Sound's good. What body are you using at the moment by the way?

    D4s versus D810 for planes

Thank you Merv, I mainly use my D4s for the fast jets and motorsport, however I have used it for general stuff with a little landscape and wildlife. I am happy with what it does there and all. Cheers.

    D4s versus D810 for planes

Having said all that, it is worth having the lens serviced first, depending on the age and previous use of course.

    D4s versus D810 for planes

I am using a D4s, it is super quick on the focus also if you take a long burst it will write to the card very quickly allowing you to release the shutter, recompose and resume with a long burst with no apparent slow down in frame rate. I shoot in 14bit RAW also. I took this with the D4s af-s 300...

Beginner If you are ever wondering what kit to start out with....

A superb body, it was my first DSLR. I cannot believe they fetch the price that they do. I suppose pixel counts sell.

Beginner If you are ever wondering what kit to start out with....

I thought I would get my Nikon D90 out of semi retirement and try it with a lens I bought for my son, a Nikkor AFS 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 VR. I must say I was very happy with the results. For kit that probably now would cost no more than around £350 second hand I thought I would share this for anyone...

    Nikon 300mm f2.8 G ED VR II AF-S bag/case

I must admit the other day I tried my D700 with grip and my 300 f2.8vr and it did fit in the Nikon CL-L1 bag, the only thing is there is not enough further adjustment to have a TC fitted also. I have used this setup since, and the padding of the Nikon bag is superb. Failing that I use a Lowepro...

    Is the D700 a Worthwhile Upgrade from a D300

In my limited recent digital experience, I have gone the way you are wanting to go. The only thing I have done first is to upgrade my glass, with the view to going full frame, this I have done over a few years to spread the cost. I have moved from a D90, which my son has now started using...

Tripod with 701hdv fluid head for sports slr use.

I used the monopod on a rally, no problem, but couldn't get on with the monopod and ball head at an airshow, I needed a lot more elevation. Hand held was ok for the jets but I struggled to get crisp shots of the prop aircraft. Perhaps I really need to concentrate on my tecnique.

Stills, Andrew, for motorsport and fast jets more than anything.:)

Tripod with 701hdv fluid head for sports slr use.

I'm sorry I misunderstood, it is a ball head I have tried and just didn't get on with it. I have also been looking at gimbal heads now I know exactly what I am looking for, the cost may be prohibitive at the moment though. I tried the fluid head this morning with the dog, but she was too hot to...

I already have a head along those lines borrowed from my father in law, and I am not getting on with it really. Thanks Ken.
