Do you shoot RAW or Jpeg?

This pretty well sums up my thoughts as well, although you wouldn't see me dead at a football match, I stalk cute little furry animals with my Canon.

Just tried out the new Nikon D4

Have you seen the two photos on Nikonrumours? The first shows a factory with a car park, the second shows a concrete island, half submerged in a lake. I don't think we'll be seeing anything new from Nikon for a while yet.

where can i get a Canon C Fit tripod collar?

Try warehouse express. I bought my 70-300 L from them and got the Canon tripod mount at the same time. It's very expensive, though.

    Review of A77

Hopefully, this will be a portent of the Canon 7D mark two. I do loads of wildlife photography so a 24mp sensor, with a proper mirror, would go down very well with me.

    Photo Critique tips

There's one option missing from the list: I show my photos to my friends and colleagues. The problem with criticism of any sort is that it's totally subjective and it's also subject to the vagaries of fashion.

    Absolute beginner!

I started out with a 450D and then upgraded to the 550D just over a year ago. The metering system on the 550D is much, much better than the one in the earlier cameras, particularly with problem shots such as photographing animals in the uppper branches of trees. My 450D delivered a washed out...

    Which Canon Camera To Get

Been there, done that, bought a faster memory card! Consumer DSLRs don't have large buffer memories so, at 3.5 FPS or so, it doesn't take long to fill them up, even when shooting Jpegs.

    EF 70-300mm F4-5.6 L IS USM?

I have a 70-300 L which I use on a 550D, having bought it to replace an EF-S 55-250. I use it for wildlife photography in Zoos and safari parks. It's sharp enough to shave a wooly mammoth! I can't reccommend this lens too much! According to some reviews I've read, it's actually sharper at...

    Memory cards

What memory cards you buy can depend on what your main photographic interest is. If you're into portrait or landscape photography fast, expensive cards are probably a waste of money. If, like me, you're a sports/action/wildlife junkie, with a fondness for letting rip at 3.7 frames a second...

    Which Zoom??

Tamron now do a 70-300 mm VC (their IS) lens which has had very good reviews. Digital Photo magazine recently did a comparitive review of medium zooms and they ranked it second, behind the Nikon but ahead of Sigma. The Canon 70-300 (non-L) came a very definate fourth. (Although, to be fair to...

    70-300mm F4-5.6 L Series IS Lens... WOW!!!

I've had one for a few weeks although I've only just had a chance to take it to Chester Zoo. It's sharp enough to shave a wooly mammoth - a huge improvement over my old 55-250mm lens! I've not found the focus ring / zoom ring issue a problem in practice. My one complaint echoes the...

    Which camera?

    Exactly my thoughts

    Scanner recommendation

I've read several reviews of Canon MFPs over the last few months. Most seem to suggest that Hewlett Packard are better at the scanner end of things.

NIKON is more reliable than Canon?

Probably because Nikons tend to be slightly better performers in poor light. I once got sand in a Canon compact and the camera survived the experience. I've stuck with them ever since.

    About to take the plunge...

Always, always have at least one spare battery. Batteries, like anything else, fail at inconvenient times.
