Zuiko Lenses

anyone used Zuiko Auto-s lenses before?

I just came across a 1.8 50mm and a 2.8 28mm and want to try them on my Canon 450D
Any experience of best F stop for sharpness etc or just any info on them appreciated

I used to have the zuiko 50 1.8 and it's a cracker, at 1.8 beautiful bokka,
to be ultra sharp above 5.6 .I used to have it set between F8 and F11 when light was good for cracking shots.

Yep i use quite a few Zuiko lenses on my E-520. Quite compact and light lenses if you can find or stretch to a 50mm f1.4 or 28mm f2 then I would.

To anyone who has used a 28mm 2.8 is there an optimum f stop for sharpness?
looking forward to manually focusing again

I own a 50mm 1.4 and a 28mm 3.5, both are great!

what f-stop do you find the sharpest?

certainly 3.5, neither have had much use in a long time, but both seem pin sharp past about 5.6, the 1.4 is a little soft wide open.

Hi

Yes I have a few too. Best thing I have bought, sold the Canon lenses. Shooting prime and manual focus is a real eye opener and all that extra expense for AF makes me laugh now, nevermind the size and weight differences.

I have the 50mm f1.4
35mm 2.8
28mm 2.8
135mm 2.8

You can get the f3.5 versions of the 35mm 28mm and 135mm, these were the entry level lenses. The also made f2 versions of the 35 and 28mm which were ultimate Pro quality lenses.
The 50mm 1.8 is an excellent lens but my 1.4 is better than my old 1.8 both set at two stops own. However the 1.4 is very usable indeed at 1.4.
In answer to your question, virtually all lenses are better two clicks down and these are no exception.

The 28mm 2.8 and 3.5 are supposed to be equally sharp, my 28mm is my favourite on a crop body, really nice and sharp.

you can get adapters from eBay for quite cheap, mine was under £20 if i remember correctly. Many have a chip in them so that the lenses can confirm focus too

got mine for £14 at ebay but no chip, it does allow for infinity though
