Zine Swap Round IV (May 2021 - October 2021)

I'm torn, really want to enter and have an idea and some photos but I haven't even collated the photos let alone compiled a zine and I've got quite a lot on over the next month, if I get anywhere with it this week, I'll let you know, sorry not to be more definite.
 
I've done bits of work but aomehow actually moving forward to selection plus story plus layout hs met a complete creative block for months. If I can break the log jam this week I'll be in, otherwise another idea for next year perhaps...
 
Still a couple of days before the deadline if you haven't PM'd me yet.

I think I tagged everyone. If you spot someone I have missed, please let me (or them!) know.

If you are interested in taking part, you now need to PM me your forum name, real name, and a (UK) postal address for sending the zines out. You have a week (and a day!) to reply.

On 31st October (next Sunday) I will be taking all the PMs and pasting them into one big list which I will send out to you all. You then have all of November to get your zines printed and sent to the recipients on the list.

I will be taking part, so that's at least one of us!

It's a nebulous nine as of 20:30. I'll be sending out a formal PM to those taking part in the morning, but when the minimum order at Mixum is 30, I'd say don't wait on me to get stuff printed :)

I'm not seeing that either, I put in as an example 12 and it gave me a price didn't say there was a minimum order.

"Dox direct" have doubled their prices it seems :thinking:

I'm using "Digitalprinting.co.uk" not as many options as "Mixam" but cheaper my last one was from them.
They use "fogra 39" as their CMYK profile if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Mixam might have changed but I IIRC it was the same price for anything up to 25 or 30 and then it went up, so you can order 12 but you might as well have 25 for the same price

What Chris said was what I meant. It's not a "minimum order", but the price was the same for 30 as it is for 20.
 
So 9 participants this time round. Hopefully all of you should have received a PM with everyone's address. Time to get printing and posting!

Mine arrived!

A bit disappointed with the finish on these. I went too light on the page weight (130gsm) and the black & white hasn't got the density I was hoping for... It feels cheap (I suppose it was!) and will go back to heavier paper next time. Happy with the content, but compared to previous zines, I think the quality is a bit down this time.

To be posted out over the next couple of days...
 
Mine were supposed to be arriving today, according to an email from Mixam yesterday. Disappointingly DPD haven't yet received them though.
I've gone for a heavier paper this time, 170 instead of 150 gsm and I'm intrigued to see if it's a better finish than the last one or much the same.

Are the colours right? If they are, then I'm wondering if it's the same issue I have as mine is B&W and "dull" would be how I'd describe the results. I'm wondering whether it's maybe the paper (or paper profile) rather than a colour issue.

They do seem correct so could possibly be paper I suppose, I just assumed the printing as I’m not really confident with CMYK
 
My zine arrived today and will go out tomorrow hopefully.

It's black and white this time, though I had it printed as colour with the CMYK colour profiles (if that makes sense) on 170gsm paper. It looks okay to me but I'll let you be the judge of that when it arrives.
