Hello.

I own a ZENIT 122, and several lens (tele 200, macro, normal, wide range)
Do you think that i can take grate photos, if i use it in a right way ?
I believe, yes, but i had an argue with a friend and i want, support.
I think it is not necessary to buy a more expensive one.
When i am saying "grate photos" i mean photos that stand out and grab attention, excluding the choice of theme.

Put simply it is the photographer that takes the picture, the camera is only a tool.

If you know how to use your tools well enough it is possible to take a great photograph but you may take many that are just mediocre.

It is in your hands, if your friend thinks spending more on a camera will automatically make him a better photographer.......he is likely to be sadly disappointed!

PS use your camera and create the best images you are able to. Where you find your creativity limited by the gear only then consider buying what you believe will overcome those shortcomings.
 
The only possible drawback is the shutter speed, max 1/500 that is probably one stop slower. (just set on the bottom red LED if you notice it) (if you are in the UK and choose the right film, that should not be a problem)

It is as capable as any other similar film camera, not quite as well made as the older Zenits, but as good as anything else around.
 
I think you are right Kraka. A good picture isn't decided by what camera you have.

Any Camera can take GREAT photo's too...

The Zenit wasnt the best camera ever made, nor by far the worst. But as said above it's more than good enough to take great photographs, With film cameras it's more the quality of the lens that limit it's quality. Most of the all time great pictures were taken on simple film cameras. The "greatness" is down to you really. ;)
