Question for anyone that may know.

Mate of mine has recently brought a 450D and his Dad has found 3 Zenit lenses and gave them to him. One is a 300mm lens and my mate would like to know if the Zenit lens will fit onto the 450D via a lens mount.

If anyone knows the answer, I'll pass that back to my mate

Thanks,

Adam.

What a waste of a good camera - sticking a crap Russian lens on it.

The resolving power of the old Zenit lenses was OK ish on film, but the critical focus of the entire spectrum for digital required is way out of those lenses capability.

They would work (probably better on a Pentax as I think you will find they are Pentax screw thread mounts, or bayonet - you didn't say how old!) but you will get ghosting and colour fringing. Might provide some nice effects, but not for every picture - you would soon get bored of the results.

Just found out the camera was a Zenit Moshva, made to commemorate the 1980 Olympics in Moscow.

 I have one of those, mine is an EM. IIRC they have the Pentax M42 screw fitment, if it has that then you can buy adapters on Ebay to fit the lenses to the Canon
