you serious - it was pretty basic stuff, not particulary great photos and you can find all that info on the web. zack is a good businessman
You can find any info about anything on the web, but having it taught in a learning style that people can understand and digest is a very different thing. As for the average photos, Zack is doing very well for himself with these "Average pictures"
Not everyone wants or likes massive technical details. A DVD called one light is not going to be aimed at people who can use 5 flashes on a shoot. It has a definite and very large marketplace. Good business it may be, but without good content to back it up he would be nothing. There are a million and one books and DVDs on the subject, Zack just has a good teaching style.
To the OP. The course was his creative live one. Amazing amount to be picked up from that course.
Not sure if you are aware of the creative live process. Basically it is webcast for free, so everyone can learn from the artist. Those who got a lot from it, or those who want to watch it again then pay for the ability to download the course to re watch at your leisure. I bought Zacks, and I also bough Jeremy Cowarts.
I think as far as business models go it is an amazing one. Everyone has the chance for world class tuition, and if you want to own it you can buy the course which helps to fund more courses. Usually there is a discount if you buy it on the weekend of the event.
I think the Zack Arias one is about 18 hours of tuition all in, which is great value for £100ish
