You must buy a body and 1 lens, what do you buy? Ideally new.
(mainly shooting people, not staged)

Please help. :)

Fuji X100.

If you stretch it to used, a Hexar AF (£350), an Epson V700 (£400) and the rest on film and chemicals.

Nikon D300s and Sigma 24-70 f2.8

just my humble opinion and probably slightly over budget

RB67 Pro S, 180mm KL lens, two 120 backs, two Polaroid backs, LH-bracket, a bag of film and a surgical truss.

Probably have enough left over to be sending out for professional lab developing for quite a while.

Leica M6 and either a 35mm or 50mm summicron, depending on what you prefer. May push the budget a little though! ;)

If I only wanted to shoot candids I'd buy an Iphone 4S (or android equivalent) and spend the other twelve hundred quid on beer and women of negotiable virtue ;)

that aside for street shooting something small and discreet like a Panasonic GF3 or one of the other CSCs and a couple of lenses (still leaving you plenty of cash over)

btw if you're serious about street/candid photography, a panasonic g3 + 20mm f1.7 would also be a stunning combo. that is if you don't want to go the range-finder route.

You would need to give us a few more specifics ideally but a good starting point would be a canon 60d and 17-55mm f2.8.

or maybe the 15-85? Cracking lens.

Buy from Kerso and there's enough left over fora decent flashgun

Cheers guys, lots of ideas.

I've been waiting for the 5dmkii and the must have 24-70 f2.8 but it's crunch time and I just can't justify the £2.5k

Off to do some research and comparisons.

Part of me thinks get a new 24-70 f2.8 for £1k and get the best 2nd hand body I can for £500. The lens I will keep forever but when I can justify it, upgrade the body!?!?!?!

Edit, candid is my thing!!

RD-1 and a Leica 35, 'cron , would be tight, but do-able

24-70mm is best experienced on fullframe. get the 17-55mm instead then . plus save a few coins.

that's showing as sold btw - if there isnt another one in the classifieds have a look at mpb photographic - they don't always have them but their stock is constantly changing

I was lookin at MPB earlier, they've got 2 d700's, one with slight scuffs and around 10k shots, the other's spotless and 3500 shots and its cheaper, am I missing something here?
Different spec or just an error? I'm not seeing any difference

I'd go either 85mm f1.8 and whichever full frame body you can afford or if you want more flexibility I'd go for 24-70 f2.8 and 5Dmk1.

I got my 5D from ffordes and they were good to deal with, if a bit slow when I sent the body back under warranty for a shutter fix.

Well thanks a lot guys, I've bought the 5D classic that or8it recommended.

Hopefully be with me this weekend, right I need a 24-70 and I need it now :)

5D MkII and a nifty fifty. I've already got 5 EF lenses so I'd go for a great back up body and a cheap lens if I had to. Or 7D and 15-85 IS and get a few hundred change, or a 60D and 24-70 2.8 L. Already got a 5D MkIII and 5 lenses so I'd be looking for a backup body and decent lens.

Canon Outlet on ebay have a cheap refurbished 5D2 with enough change for a lens on your £1500 budget ;)
