Seems to be so many different opinions on here and I was wondering if money no object what would be your ultimate camera to choose, price and why,
"just a bit of fun thread"

I would like a Speed Graphic in perfect condition.

Steve.

I think we need to add pics of cameras as well (if not added already)

I think I would be happy with a couple of D3Xs....

My perfect camera would be any camera that would take the perfect photo every time just by pointing and shooting...

Mine hasn't been made yet but it would have the dynamic range of my eyesight, easy and as light to use as my eye, the telephoto range of an eagles eye and the closeness of a microscope. Not built yet like I said but I am still waiting for it to be produced ;)

Canon 1DmkIV and a 1DsmkIV
Yes, these cameras havent been made yet, but that is my next step i believe for me (Well, not the 1Ds, i'm not made of money, but this is a fantasy thing! )

But to be honest, its all about getting decent L glass for my current bodies. Watch this space

If we're talking about imaginary cameras then I will also have a Nikon F7

Steve.

My E-P1 with an integrated electronic viewfinder, flash, and a wide fast prime pancake lens (with HSM/USM) :))

I'd like an Alpa camera

A full frame 'compact' with 'live view' that takes Leica M-mount lenses.

In Nikon world: D3x resolution in D700 body with sensor sensitivity and low light performance of the D3/D700. Having this camera I would be having best of both worlds - cropped sensor (of a decent size) for longer reach with long lenses, Full frame for shallower DOF, larger viewfinder and wider with wide lenses, and great low light performance - all in one. I am not sure it will ever exist though...

I already have mine, but the 'Red' Digital above looks nice...

I think the D700 is already quite close in terms of portability, although I would like a 10-500mm 1.2 VR-X which coincidently only weight 100 grams..... :)

leica s2 system for me i think. medium format 37mp sensor in a portable slr size package. well made and i assume reliable, and just lush!

Holy ****. That's a lot of wonga.

it is indeed, but its also aimed at the highest of high end pros!

i got to take a quick snap on RANKIN's mamiya rz67 with 39mp digital back at the clothes show when i got talking to his team....the back alone was worth more than the leica camera!

Waldy martens, gets paid up to $30000 a day for shoots, for people like that its not a lot of money!

im very jealous!:gag:

You have a point. And, damn!!!! Serious dosh :D

I'm thinking of buying a camera I like, the Leica M6. Toss up between that and a 70-200L f/2.8 IS USM for the Canon.

My ultimate camera........ a 1D with interchangeable full-frame and crop sensors, with a 10-800mm f/1.2 kit lens, with a MRRP of £5. Unfortunately I can't really see it happening any time soon.... :)

I've already got it - Mamiya RB67 ProS. Gives me more of a buzz then any other camera I own. Then again though - I am a dinsosaur. :D

I think it shows how new I am to this photography thing. I haven't heard of most of them. I only discovered what a Hass blad thing was about a week ago.
Can someone tell me why for instance the Leica, Mamiya and the Blad are sooo good. :amstupid:
Ian..

They tend to have excellent lenses and are simple and work well - for a long period of time.

For instance - a lightly modified Hasselblad 500EL was the camera used by the Apollo astronauts.

They're not, they're just for people who don't want to embrace the 21st century (tin hat on, running for cover faster than a speeding bullet :D )

Seriously though, there's just a level of quality that is lacking in most modern cameras! That's why people are still using them now. I've got a 450D, I think it's great, but I can guarantee that no-one will still be using it a few decades down the line, because I can pretty much guarantee it will have fallen apart by then! Back in the (good old ;) ) days (can't be accused of being a grumpy oldie because I'm only 20!) things weren't build to be disposable!

Edit: This is specifically referring to the old film ones, when I wrote that I had forgotten about the 50+ mp digital back thingies made by Hasselblad which are probably a little more '21st century' than i was first thinking :D
