i have given myself a 18' x 8' x 8' area to work with

anyway as i said i will be doing portraits hopefully and the good lady wife has come up with a name i like

PRINTS CHARMING..

any thoughts on this " i:e to tacky or novel..."

all feedback welcome:shrug:

Personally i don't like it. I'd remember it, but probably not for the best reasons. Though i can't say i have any other ideas for you :D

I agree with Matt, it's a catchy name but doesn't have the right feel to it although it does give you the option to sing "someday your prints will come" when a customer phones up asking where theirs are ;)

"Your Name - Family Photography" ?

Must agree with Matt

I didn't use my surname because its Carr. Carr Photography kinda pigeon holes me ;) Prints Charming is terrible

I do work for a company called "BugBusters" you guessed it pest control
They even ripped off the ghostbusters logo to an extent.
Tacky yes but not easilly forgotten. They are a sucessful business and have been around several years.
I would suggest you stick with your idea as its catchy and not easilly forgotten. Something you need in bussiness today.
Oh and if I ever go pro, ( not likely) if you don't want it I'll have it :D

I've seen a local company called "The Rubbish Removers" which is kinda clever but I'm not going to hire them, they're rubbish ;)

How about 'Venture'?

A totally nothing-to-do with photography name that could catch on?

Just pick something distinctive, doesn't have to relate to the subject i.e. Venture. Treat it as a brand and make it stand for something (perhaps not - nice photography ludicrously expensive - though)

As you can see by my web name - I've not yet come up with one either! So for now, 'MD Photography' would be fine - 'Prints Charming' = not for me

I asked my wife and daughter if they were looking for portraits or wedding photo's would they ring a company with that name and they both said "yes" so hows that for a straw poll? :D
So it seems its more apealing to women than men

Yeah but women love all that soppy BS.

Go for something with a bit more class

Ahem ... not all women thank you very much! :p

I rushed into my nails business name in order to meet the deadline in YP.

I cannot begin to tell you how much Ive regretted it over the years, I think it sounds twee, silly, & basically cringeworthy.

If I ever get a business off the ground in photography, I shall go for something simple like Gloria-Jean Photography (my real name) or a one-word name like venture.

Dont rush into it Dave ... you dont want to find youve outgrown your bizzname 2 years down the line.
