Yes
just wondering  - after you got your first DSLR, what was the next lens you bought?

Nikkor 55-200 AF-S VR.

If I had enough money it would have been the 70-300 AF-S VR instead.

Depending on what you want to shoot, the options would be a telephoto or a low F prime.

Cheap telephoto, shortly followed by a 50mm.

Are you just curious, which is fair enough, or are you looking for suggestions? What lens did you get with the camera, and what are you keen to shoot?

Sigma 10-22.....although bought a sigma 55-200 with the camera...so not sure which would class as second lens, but defiantly wanted a wide angle after getting the camera

Canon EF-S 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS - basically a cheap, but good zoom. Now I want to upgrade my kit lens..

As said above, depends on what your into.

I got a Tamron 55-200 as I wanted something with a bigger focal length for motorsport (should have got a 300mm :( )

My next one is a Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 and the missus is getting me the Minolta 50mm prime :)

Canon 100-400L IS

I guess a better questions which will yield more useful replies would be: -

'I've just bought my first DSLR and I got (kit?) lens with it. I shoot (something or other) so what should my next lens be?

Mine was the Canon 70-300 IS, and I'm still loving it, although it's in the process of being replaced by a 70-200 f/2.8 and a 100-400!

Canon 70-200 f4L

Another one who got a 70-200 F/2.8 L IS :)

or depending on the interpretation of your question....

A 28-70 L

50mm f/1.8 followed by Canon 55-250mm followed by a cheapo 28mm old F mount lens off eBay for reverse macro followed by Canon 100mm macro.

I already had a 75-300 Canon zoom from a film camera kit, but I upgraded to a Canon 70-300IS so I suppose that was my first extra lens.

EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS
50mm f1.8 nifty fifty
Canon EF-S 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS

I picked up a canon 50mm 1.8mk2 in the states a week after the camera was bought as somone told me it was good. and they were right i like it a lot.

Yesterday I sent the cash to pay for my 2nd and 3rd lenses, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L and a canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS I just need to wait for them to arrive.

A Tamron SP AF24-135mm F/3.5-5.6 AD Aspherical (IF) Anniversary Special

Loved that lens, superb IQ but it got knocked off a table on to the ground (ceramic tiles) when I was living in Spain and the AF went totally to pot.

Has been at Intro2002 for the last 5 months for repair but it seems they cannot sort it. :'(
