Your photography pet hates

I was out yesterday with the 70-200 on my camera and got quite a lot of "I bet that takes good photos", it was great because I got to hand out quite a few business cards :D

Nice Flickr portfolio you have there Jen

You must have a good camera!

People who treat membership of the local photography club as some sort of qualification.

I dont shoot jpeg because I get it right in the camera... as quoted by ken rockwell...

Idiots. Why let your camera do your processing for you? RAW isnt because you make mistakes it gives you freedom to make an image into a photo.

That's my pet hate!

people who think that one file type , one brand, or indeed one mode is definitively the best.

At the end of the day the end result is what matters and a wise photographer uses whatever tool is necessary to give the result they desire

When Im waiting to get my shot and some other photographer comes and stands right in front of me gggrrrrrrrrrrrr +1

I hate that too, you take the time to make a comment, and you don't get a thanks, I agree, I disagree, or whatever... And then when you look to see if the haven't been on lately you see a couple of other threads they've started over a short time and done the same thing in everyone. If you don't want feedback, don't appreciate or can't be a*sed to reply when people have taken the time to comment, then don't post pictures. :bang:

I don't pull people up on it but Cannon for Canon, lens for Lens and loose for lose really annoy me. I mean, how may times a day do you see the words Canon and Lens on this site a day?

Both on here and pretty much everywhere the back to front use of BROUGHT instead of BOUGHT - as in "I brought this on here" in the classified sections to "I picked this at Jessops and bought it home same day".

Even my partner does it so she is up for sale now!

Seems people do not know their R's from their...."

Mellow time now ;-)

Not nearly enough..........

Mint condition

No visible signs of wear and tear. Has difficulty in certain conditions. Often fails to properly connect with the vacuum cleaner and often needs a kick before coming alive in certain locations, like the kitchen.

The only mode that seems to work is P so will be up for listing in the classified section. Will have to insist on a "no returns policy" so Caveat Emptor......

PET HATE

When some one asks advice about going Pro everyone thinks they want to self employed when there are many Pro togs out there that dont run a a biz....

This is of course true, it is of course also true that the vast majority of working professional photographers at lease on this forum are self employed  I'd say its also true that the vast majority of those are wedding and/or portraiture photographers...

People who buy their first DSLR and then offer to do a mates wedding for free, taking work away from the bonafide wedding photographers out there and also producing extremely poor wedding photo's.

Also people who walk in front of the camera just as you are about to take the shot.

some photos would help with the sale... if we can have a couple from each angle and one showing the covers removed that would be great ;)

To be honest I would have to say I would need some kind of mechanical assistance. The covers have not been off in years. A loan of an Ultra Wide Angle would help too.

I think i'll withdraw my interest ;)

Ok here are mine...

*Orb photos and wire wool swinging photos- This has been done to death and they look rediculous, it is ususally done really out of context as well, like a blue orb in the middle of an old barn. Hope I never become and orbist.

*Horizon police- I know it's been covered, but did you ever considered the shape of the lake, pond etc? I need to invent some sort of rig to hold people at the horizon angle to keep the horizon police happy.

*Cats- Why does everyone have to start photographing the cat as soon as they get a new camera or lens, or did I just not realise that they were the official test subject. At least put a silly hat on it or something to make it more interesting.

When you get a new camera test out the build quality but beating the cat with it :)

Oooh you're going to upset Matt about orbs! :D

It's not to upset anyone, I just don't get it. Is it suppose to be a UFO or something or do people just see good 'orb potential' in certain bridges etc.

I want to see it being done a bit differently, perhaps something like a white orb with a cow inside. In the middle of trafalgar square.

Totally agree on orbs. Also shots off motorway bridges of car lights. Yaaaaaaaaaawn!

Not really :D not everyone is going to have the same photographic passions as me...I of course wish they would :D my wallet might not feel so anorexic then ;)

Orbs are my passion

Get loads of them.......

When I am doing "boudoir" shots in what seems to be a growing interest group. Have had 6 jobs recently all word of mouth. Orbs.... bring em on

Easy tiger. They just bore me is all.

And yes. I am ace. Thanks buddy!

When I'm about to take a photograph and somebody walks up and punches me right on the nose. That really annoys me, can't quite put my finger on why.

People looking at me like I'm a paedophile when I'm wondering around with a 100-400 in a nature reserve. Yes I understand that people may take toddlers for a walk around a lake but FFS I'm there for nature not some young dumb mum Removed : Way too explicit!!!pushing her sprog about :D
