Your photography challenge for 2014?

Figure out to properly use my camera and all the settings to take some brilliant pictures on purpose rather than a fluke!

PS. Can anyone rate the Froknowsphoto more than auto dvds

Mine is simple that is to take part in POTY2014 I've not got a POTD challenge any longer, other than that I've got plenty of photography work planned as personal and none personal projects so we shall see how that goes

I *was* thinking last night of starting another selfie 365, or a 365 with a different theme.
I could give it a go, but I just know I don't have as much time as I did last time, and I don't think I'd do it justice. I would just end up uploading mostly quick grab shots at the last minute and that would be silly :(

Im definitely going to take part in the POTY, however I need to chat with the competition boss about mods entering :)

I'm going to at least try to keep up with POTY entries over the months and also try a 52. Just getting the work done to enter will be a step in the right direction for me, so let's see how it goes. Good luck everyone and Happy New Year.

Just Ban him if he doesn't let you ;) this is North Korea  for the record I cannot see an issue with you taking part...I don't see since its ran in isolation from the Slack Server from what I've read how you could possibly get unfair advantage

As to a 365 the fact that even know your picking holes in the idea of doing one probably means it wouldn't get completed

I think you should do the 365 and come along and show some support to the rest of us 365'rs

Get my camera out of the bag.

Careful!

It's dead easy getting it/them out of the bag but quite another to take them out with you! That's why I bought a second XF-1, to live in the car because I too often forget to pick a camera up when I go out. I also have the old D70 with the 18-270 fitted alongside the V1 with the 70-300 in a bag handy to grab as and when the mood takes me. Gives me a fairly wide range of focal lengths to play with, 27-810 or so in 35mm EFL. Unfortunately, the 18-270 isn't happy on the V1, possibly due to the low light but equally possibly a compatibility issue (oh dear, maybe I'll have to seek out an 18-200 Nikkor...!)

Last Christmas, the MiL bought me a book about Devon and I went through it marking all the places I want to shoot (or at least snap at!) but by the time the light and weather was good enough, driving privileges were suspended. In theory, they'll be restored soon so I can put the plan into action. Since Mrs Nod is now free for 3 daytimes per week (as well as some weekends), she'll be able to accompany me on the walks the shooting will probably entail.

Not really a competitive sort but may have a go at POTY - maybe even a few other competitions if the prize is worth the effort. Like Matt, I would have no problem with the team entering - they're first and foremost members here and have been saddled with the task of keeping us in line (pretty sure that volunteers are shoved to the back of the "mod possibles" list) so shouldn't be penalised for their work here. Maybe even an extra competition purely for the team if there's opposition to them entering with us plebs!

Again transport related, I hope to be able to make some meets this year. I'll do my utmost to get to the TPE in May but also want to do Chris's nutters meet and a BWC one - maybe even organise one to the Dartmoor Zoological Park...

Did try a 12 a few years ago but failed - probably down to the illness but since I'm mended now, I can't use that as an excuse! Might even get around to screwing a QR platform to a fence post and taking a series of regular shots to see how the view changes through the year.

However, knowing me, achieving ONE of the above plans will be a minor miracle but I will do what I can!

Good luck to all with their plans and...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

(Deliberate shouting for those with hangovers!!!)

I did consider doing another 365, then remembered the trauma of the last one!:nailbiting:

I gave my niece some film kit for Xmas and now that's made me want to give film a proper go as well so I plan on taking a lot more photos using said medium this year. Haven't set myself any targets yet though.

My goals are to get back into photography after it falling by the wayside these past 5 years, complete a Project365, and to have an image published again. That is one amazing feeling :)

Did you not find that taking grab shots made you still think about technical stuff and improve your photography? I'm finding grab shots - for all I hate them, still keep me going....even if it's just one thought out shot every once in a while, they seem to be better too - taking less shots to get what I want etc as time goes by.

I am waiting to hear if I have got onto the second phase of a training course that will take up lots of time. If I don't, I am going to start working on an 'A' having achieved my 'L' last March at the Focus assessment. Any tips? HNY… :D

Just to basically use my camera a lot more often than I have been - was going to do the x52 challenge but I think thats theme specific so not really my thing.. lol

Several
1. get the camera out and actually take pictures with it regularly
2. I am actually doing a small challenge with my daughter on four topics which we have got to cover throughout the year. Minimum of three photos for each topic. As long as completed by the end of the year:eek:
3.Increase skills with photo editing and using flash successfully

Errmmmm let see what happens
