I've never said no to anyone who asked for a bigger version to use as a wallpaper! And likewise, I've never been turned down when asking...
And yes, I'm still using one of Garys (HIMUPNORTH) rather excellent aerial photos of my beloved Cairngorms as my wallpaper

I wouldnt mind people using the image for sole use as someones desktop, but i would like to be asked first (Purely just so i can feel really happy about it). Not that this would ever happen

I would never dream of just using someone's image without asking permission first, if there was one that i had seen i would PM first.

I can't say as I really see the problem with someone clicking to have an image from this site as a desktop. To be against it would be like saying I've put my photo online so you can view it on your computer but I don't want you to view it on your computer.
Somehow saying that it's ok to see it in a browser window but not if that window is closed is just nuts.
The issue of manners and courtesy is entirely separate and seeing as you know who to ask if you've seen the pic here and you can ask with just one click...... The idea of not asking would be totally alien to me and it seems, most people here......... and their children.

If I ever found out someone had taken one of my images off the internet to use as a desktop background I'd first of all be delighted that someone thought it was good enough to use but then disappointed that they didn't contact me first to ack permission. If someone ever did ask then the chances are I'd provide them will a full size version for free. I've done a couple of photoshoots that I could have made money from but I've done it just for the experience and I'm still only a beginner. Who knows, years down the line I may one day make money from some of my photos but I can't imagine I'd ever deny someone the pleasure of having one of my images as a desktop wallpaper.
