Your own pictures on the wall at home, or not?

That second picture is incredible Matt. i definitely need to get to that windmill for the star trails you mentioned!

I have 2 up on the wall at the moment, in actual fact i dont think they're my best work at all i took them about 6/7 years ago and i've improved since then (least i hope i have). they're up because of the sentimental meaning of the two pictures. 1 being the place i proposed to my Fiancée (we actually will get married this September as well, its taken a while!) and the other being of the beach by my home in Cornwall.

Interesting one this, I love having pictures around whether they're mine or someone elses but my wife only wants photos taken by us or relating to us. It is a shame as I've bought some really nice photos of places/ scenes that I like and my wife keeps suggesting we replace them with ones we've taken that in my opinion are not as good. I suppose it is down to personal preference in the end.

Nope not yet - in fact, I have none whatsoever on my walls! Still live at home so the only place I can is my bedroom and to be honest, space is at a premium.

May find a nice 1 someday I'll bother popping up, though. I am planning on a photobook to look through soon!

I have a small series of photographs on my wall, they are small in size and mounted in frameless frames. I don't really see them as my photos, I see them just of photographs of my city. In most cases I wouldn't want them on my wall though.

Although if I had my own studio or editing room I probably would want some of my work up for inspiration.

I've recently moved into my first house but it feels wrong to buy some one else's work when I could attempt / do what they have taken

I have loads from my travels as canvases around the house.

Its a constant reminder to me of the places I have been and the things I have seen and I couldn't imagine not having photos up around the house.

Thats why we have a camera after all!

I forgot I also have a macro shot of a fiddler crab on the wall in the bathroom...my other half still says It freaks her out when she catches sight of it!

Put them up and be proud! I have a number of images printed to 20x16 and a 4' x 3' canvas image. They are better to look at than watching some of the rubbish on TV!! (I am a bit biased tho')

I have 3 of my own up, a panorama of llandudno I took last year, a view out over the breakwater at Scarborough and a sunset over southport pier that I had printed in Lancashire life last year. That last one is my favourite, my other half's brother didn't believe us when we told him I had taken them so that was nice :)

I also have many 5x7s on the fridge to the side of my desk of family and friends, all taken by myself but a nice montage of pictures :)

I have a approx 30 photos on the wall (all travel images). If they're not there, then they are hidden away on my computer and barely ever seen! I like them, and they inspire me to go travelling even more :)

Had a couple of poster sized seascapes framed behind glass and on lounge walls. They were from 35mm film. Took them down and binned last year after being up for well over 20 years due to them fading badly.

Hope to get others up in due course.

Depends..if you are a sports or news reporter...maybe not!

We have cameras for work....

I'd bet wedding photographers don't have pics of other peoples weddings in their home either ;-)

Lol, I don't, not a single wedding photo up, not even ones of static shots of dresses, candles or even silhouettes shots where you can't see faces. It just feel weird.

I got one from a holiday that I had printed at a special promo rate. It's not a masterpiece but it has good memories so I wanted to hang it. Only problem is it's so damn long I can't find a frame at a reasonable price to put it in! :bonk:

Doesn't need to be a masterpiece but the main thing is you love it, if you love it then price isn't really an issue since its a one off print. It cost me over £200 for mine to be framed, bespoke, but to me it's worth every penny.

My dad once took a photograph with an underwater film camera of a turtle beneath him in the water. The photograph is outstanding & the light shining thru the water is stunning. That was blown up & wall mounted before I was born & I grew up looking at it. He often jokes that I get my 'tographer' from him but watching the way he holds a camera & looks at my 5D MKII I'm not sure thats the case! hahaha. One day I might have my own on the wall, who knows?

i like to think I will put some of my pictures up one day. Will start to decorate my house again soon, so may be an excuse to go out to take some pictures.

As has been mentioned... If they are sitting on a computer not everyone can see them, if some are on the wall, friends and family have a look

I sometimes get A3 prints done as gifts for people - normally get them mounted on 5mm foamboard and laminated as I much prefer this "minimal" look to traditional frames.

Must get some to hang on my own walls

Interested by this method of framing. Is the foamboard the same stuff you sometimes receive in packaging? How do you actually hang the frame?

I have loads of pics that I would love to have up on the wall. Just cant afford to do it just now. Friends and family love a lot of my pics and I'd love to show them of on the wall.

Johnsy that's beautiful.

We've just bought a house here and took advantage of a 50% sale with Photobox for 12 A3 prints, have some old Muji acrylic frames to put them in.

I currently have this

and 1 other in canvas on my wall, i'm very critical of my own work so only print the ones i absolutely love.

Got my own pics of the kids on our walls in ikea ribba frames 50x40cm with a 40x30 print

I don't have any up on my own wall, but funnily enough my girlfriend's mum asked if she could blow up a couple of shots we took when we went to visit them in January to go in her living room!

Don't have much up. Living in a rented apartment is a hassle because you can't go putting huge hooks up wherever you like. The fact that half the wall space is plasterboard doesn't help either. :)

Do have a couple of prints up that didn't sell at an exhibition a few years ago.

This shot of my girlfriend:

And this street shot just for the lack of anywhere else to put it, really should get around to changing it:
TP_Street_4.jpg

Also have a couple of fashion images up in my office that a mate shot and didn't want to bother hauling back to India when he went home.

Parents have a big acrylic pano of mine up in the kitchen, least they did last time I went home..

Several prints up on my walls - all my own photos. The only exception is a wedding photo my Dad took a few years ago but that's just framed and on a shelf not on the wall.

Yes, many. All around the house. I may not be the best but I'm proud of the pictures I take and always aim for at least a handful that I take to end up on the walls.
