Your least used lens and why?

I've a couple of cupboard lenses too.........

Canon EF 28-80 f3.5-5.6 USM IV & Canon EF 75-300 f4-5.6 II really need to find a new home for them.

My 50 1.8 doesn't get out as much as it should and lack of time means my Canon 100-400 L IS USM isn't getting the use it should.

Currently own

Canon 10-22
Canon 70-200 f4L
Canon 50 1.8
Sigma 17-35

Hardly ever use the Sigma, now I have the extra width with the 10-22 (need to get rid of it soon).
I should use the 50 more, but it only gets used for occasional portraits.

Currently own:

Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS.
Canon 70-200 F4 IS.
Canon 18-55 f3.5-5.6 IS
Sigma Macro 50mm f/2.8 EX DG

The 18-55 is by far my least used lens, It is a nice sharp little jobby, but it's just too damn short for anything I shoot

Currently own:

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8
Canon 50mm f1.4
Canon 70-200mm f4L

Least used? It's fairly even, but probably just about the 70-200mm, even though it's my joint favourite lens. I plan to start using it a lot more for portrait stuff, but up til now I've not really needed the focal range.

Worst lens is a different question entirly and is quite definitely the Sigma 24-70mm. Just can't compete with the quality of the other two lenses, even though I love the focal range. I'd love to get a few more primes (30/35, 85, 135), but I'm not convinced I'd use them.

I'm now selling my Nikkor 18-55 DX lens as it gets no use at all

:)

Until Monday it was the Sigma 10-20. Sold it on ebay to help cover the cost of the new Canon 100m Hybrid IS which I can assure you will get MUCH more use. Waiting to close the auction on the Sigma 105 macro which is also being sold to ofset cost of Canon 100mm

Own:
Canon 10-22
Canon 24-70
Canon 70-200 2.8 (non IS)
Canon 100-400

Soon to own:
Canon 65mm MPE

I fins myself using the 70-200 least as it sits in an area I don't use much. I generally use my 24-70 close up, 10-22 for wide/landscape and ten to use my 100-400 at the long end for wildlife.

If I were going to the WHF visit (which I still hope I might make) I'd be using this lens a lot.

I used to have Sigma 30mm and Canon 85mm 1.8 but these both went to fund the 100-400mm.

I sell on anything I don't use enough to warrant keeping

Another nifty fifty (EF50 1.8) not being used by me  probably because I always forget about it as it's so small and gets lost in my bag :D

My Sigma 10-20mm has gone from being one of my most-used lenses to my least used, not through any fault of its own but ever since getting the D700 & 18-35mm it's taken over wide-angle duties from the 10-20 & D90. The 18-35 isn't quite as wide (a 12-24 on DX would give roughly the same range) but the extra length is actually very handy.

i rarely use my Canon 70-300mm lens. Ideally, i'd like to upgrade to something that produces better quality images... but i'd never get enough use out of it to justify the cost. So, it's way down the list of priorities.

I have:-
24-70L
30mm 1.4L
70-200 2.8L IS
300mm F4L

The 300mm I have used once in 6 months. I bought it for sports stuff and my wife's horse riding. I find the 70-200 perfect for that! Everything else I use on a regular basis, particulary the 30mm for close up work at gigs.

Dunc

My Tamron 17-50mm f2.8

Simply because my 300 f4 IS L is always attatched to either the 50D or 1D mk II.

(sorry if this has been done before)

Lenses owned: 17-40, 24-105, 50 1.4, 70-200 2.8, 100mm macro.

My least used lens is my 100mm f2.8 macro lens.

- I don't shoot much macro stuff - I now turn down commercial stuff that involves small objects, just not my thing.
- Although heralded as a good portrait lens its too slow to focus for taking pics of kids unless they're sitting still.
- My 70-200 2.8 does a better job in all areas.
- I used it at the last wedding just for novelty value but that's the first time since 2008!!

I think it's days are numbered.

Somewhat bizarrely, I have almost exactly the same line-up along with two or three other additionals (I have a 17-35 in place of your 17-40) and use my 100mm macro the least too.

Seems like those old once will became obsolete now but the most affected is the 18-55 kit lens,I guess no one uses them now

I have (all Nikon)

24-70 2.8
50 1.4
85 1.5
70-200 2.8

and of those my 70-200 gets used far and away the least. I just think as a focal length it disconnects me from my subjects and make people uncomfortable having a lens that big pointed at them

I'm surprised to hear a wedding tog say that Hugh - I thought it was the default lens for weddings. I tend to use mine from a bit of a distance, often without people knowing I'm pointing it at them. And then for B&G shots.

I think its alot about shooting styles - I just prefer to get in there with the guests and I find they soon forget I've got a camera, just works for me. The only time I really use the 70-200 at weddings now is if I'm a bit of way from the couple during the ceremony.

Least used is my Sigma 10-20, but I won't get rid of it, coz it has it's moments.
