Hi guys,

Its been a great year this year for the film industry, with many blockbusters smashing the box office charts.

What has been your favourite and why??

Mine has to be transformers 3, i'm a massive CGI and sci fi geek and transformers i have watched since being a little boy. It was a hard choice to pick transformers as i'm also a massive comic book (Graphic Novel) fan and thor blown me away in 3D.

Matt

Easy.....

Drive.

Beautifully shot, touching yet brutal. I'm not saying that you are wrong, but if you strip away the fancy cgi from most movies these days you're left with little else.

Not seen Drive, but I'll definitely be watching it...

I must admit that I did enjoy watching Larry Crowne... I also enjoyed Hall Pass - a bit of a mindless bubble gum movie, but it has Nicky Whelan in it sporting a rather fine pair of tight jeans... They also released From The Ashes - a documentary about how the English stuffed the Aussies during the 1981 Ashes series

The fighter, but as a comedy fan, and giving my favorite comedy, it would be horrible bosses

2011 isn't over yet!!!

Some of the best films will be out this Xmas;

David Finchers version of The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo, Sherlock Holmes 2, and Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. Can't wait for those.

A remake of the girl with the dragon tattoo?

PUKE

Why do they need to make one? What's wrong with the original? It's a great film!

It's going to be superb, I love the first adaption but it's not without its faults. I think this will be even better. And it's not a remake of the movie, it's another adaption of the book!

We seen Sherlock holmes 2 last night, was a great film

Drive as it was something new instead of been over the top, along with sucker punch again something relatively new. Best from last year was scott pilgrim vs the world.

Yes I have a rather odd movie taste.

I'm going to elaborate on my decision a little and have catagories after some thinking....

Thriller/Drama: Drive
Horror: Tucker and Dale vs Evil (this year has been a dissapointment in the horror genre)
Comedy: Hall Pass (so, so dissapointed with Horrible Bosses)
SciFi/Fantasy : Sucker Punch
Family: Cars 2

Captain America!

Ok, no Oscar material but just really fun. Certainly my fave this year.

I haven't seen a single film from 2011 I don't think - I feel shamed. Used to be such a film lover but having kids has well and truly cocked up going to the cinema.

This years fave films?

Hmmm - my guilty pleasure has to be Fast and Furious 5, I thought it was fantastic! As was Captain America.

The three most accomplished and surprising films were Machine Gun Preacher (superb!), The Devils Double and Drive.

I also really enjoyed the Hangover 2 and Bridesmaids, both VERY funny.

Ive seen so many this year I'm bound to think of more...

Next year, can't wait for Expendables 2!!

And, don't laugh (as I know the 1st one was crap!) but G I Joe 2 Retalliation also looks very good, Bruce willis and The Rock!

Bring it on!!

Go buy yourself Captain America on DVD then... that will cheer you up, assuming you like seeing totally over the top nazeees getting biffed

TT3D, I didn't actually want to go and see it but ended up loving it.

That is pretty much my idea of a great film. Nazis/terrorists/general baddies - providing they're mean and over-equipped with firearms, that's pretty much all I ned to watch!!! :)

TBH, I love buying DVDs but I seem to be buying older films, although Captain America, Drive, 50/50, and Shame all look good.....

Oh are you in for a treat then!

:bat:

i loved the Devils Double, but after watching Warrior, this is my fav of 2011 ( if you enjoyed the fighter you'll love this) this is an amazing film, had me on the edge of my seat ( think of the 1st time you watched rocky) and nick nolte played a great part.

Mine has to be transformers 3,

seen it.

yeah, was pretty good for a popcorn flick

Easy.....

Drive.

seen it.

morose. Violence was gripping and shockingly calm. But the long drawn out bits were a bit too long and drawn out

I also enjoyed Hall Pass

seen it.

found it a bit of a nothing movie. Not that it was supposed to be something, but compared to something like the inbetweeners movie which is also a nothing movie, it was below par.

The fighter, but as a comedy fan, and giving my favorite comedy, it would be horrible bosses

Seen both.

The fighter, loved. Horrible bosses - yeah that was a better nothing movie than hall pass.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy without a shadow of a doubt.

Not seen it.

ooh a toughy to pick just one but really enjoyed super 8, deathly hallows p2, captain america

Seen them.

Super 8 - i think this was a real classic popcorn movie, like how they used to make them, and I enjoyed it right up to the part where it went so sickly cheesy with the necklace "let it go" scene at the end, which made me want to wash myself.

Captain america- that was shameless fun wasn't it!

There you go!

I watched Warrior the other night. I've seen a lot of the movies released this year. I loved Warrior so much. I think that might be my favourite of 2011 too.

I also loved xmen first class, best xmen movie ever. I also was gripped with 127 hours. True grit was such a well written character movie and the kings speech is great too. I did love The guard a lot as well. Animal kingdom and Black swan were better than drive in my opinion, both morose but they were directed much better.

The film i really want to see is Moneyball, and I have no interest in baseball, it just looks like such a great story.

Biggest dissapointment for me this year was tree of life, as a big mallick fan I felt this one required a bit too much.

Ah yes, Super 8, that was brilliant! Reminded me of the Speilberg films i grew up with! Added that to my Blu Ray Xmas list!

Fast and Furious 5 - shameless fun!
Bridesmaids - probably one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time at the cinema!

Honourable mention - Deathly Hallows PT2, really enjoyed that although the end was so cheesy!

:)

These aren't all films released in 2011, but I did enjoy watching them this year.

Shutter Island
Margin Call
Life In A Day
Tropa De Elite I & II
Inception
A separation: Nader & Simin

if we're going down that route, then it has to be Dead Mans Shoes....best film i've seen every year since it was released :D

Ive not seen many at all this year Tin Tin was okay but Sucker Punch gets my vote

Still catching up on films..

Drive - disappointing, didn't grab my attention and got a bit bored in places
Tinker tailor - B O R I N G
Devils double - excellent film, Dominic cooper did great job
real steel - actually quite enjoyable
Closer to the edge - okay not really a film as such but worth a watch in hd
Killer elite - good watch quite gritty
Drive angry - alright,no thinking involved + amber heard :bonk:
Columbiana - a bit meh but okay

I think that's it, got a few more on their way though.

For me it's the devils double for far film of 2011

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, watched it a couple of nights ago and its absolutely fantastic, Gary Oldman might have a good chance at the Oscars with that performance

I was really looking forward to tinker tailor soldier spy, but what a load of tosh. There are very few films I have just not finished watching, probably two or three but this is the fourth one, couldn't even be bothered to watch it to the end, very disappointed.

Just watched the remake of Fright Night....never oscar material, but a blooming enjoyable film. David Tennant is excellent.

Another worthy of a mention is Transit, as is Kill List.

I didn't see many films last year, and nothing outstandingly brilliant at all.
However, 'The Village award for over-hyped drivel in the etxreme' goes to Black Swan. Utter gubbins.
