Yes
if you had no budget which camera would you love to own????

I would really like one hand made for me to my own spec, just turn up at Nikon Canon Sony or whoever you perfer, with a bag of money and say build me this :)

If they made it, a Nikon D2s.... Crop factor, D7000 sensor, ace build, weatherproofing, built in grip. Perfect

Other than that, i'd have a D3s

Probably the Nikon FM3D, if it ever existed. Thom Hogan reckoned it got to the prototype stage, or just beyond it, IIRC.

Panasonic L10 but with full frame sensor and a better VF. That'd do me.

The Sony A77 but SLR not SLT and a decent buffer. Basically a big brother to my A580. As that doesn't exist it would have to be their new full frame one that's got the all new sensor the D800 is going to use.

The a580 with a couple of tweaks - selectable iso range for auto iso and auto iso in metered manual - would make it my perfect camera already. Squeaky build quality aside...

prob a77 :) or a900 the really expensive one sounds exciting though :D

The focussing and exposure mechanisms from my 1D Mk iv, the ergonomics from my 7D and the sensor and on/off switch* from my Pentax.

*because it's in the right place. Other manufacturers take note.

Found my self watching a lot of videos about the Phase One system last Friday, not sure why. So one of these and some lenses. With this equipment I would carry on producing mediocre work and fill my hard disc in around 3 weeks thanks to the massive file sizes.

I've been pondering on this question today (it's a slow day). It's got to be sturdy and I'd like to retain full frame but at the same time I'd like to have the greater zoom and AF of a crop camera so I think the camera that fits today's fantasy criteria would a Canon 1D with its 1.3x crop.

The rest of my imaginary budget gets spent on lots of L glass. :)

Give me a D700 body, without the built-in flash but with the D3x sensor and I'd be very happily satisfied with that set-up.

However, if we're dreaming, the H4D-200M would have to be the one I'd go for.

A d4 (I'd accept a d400 tbh) with a more accommodating (and universal, electronically) lens mount (lets say a 28mm register).

The d4/d400 may come soon (more likely than a d800 IMO), the rest, not so much.

Edit: Realised I had the register distance the wrong way, an ideal universal mount would have a short register, since longer registers can be accounted for with an extension tube on the adapter. 28mm would only exclude a handful of fairly rare mounts that aren't really worth worrying about, the only 'common' mount that would be too short would be Leica M bayonet at 27.95mm, but that 0.05mm probably wouldn't be a big deal, and assuming we have a nice wide throat on a universal mount, then you can probably recess ever so slightly anyway.

Would quite like the medium format Pentax 645D other than that all the top of the range ones seem fairly similar, so any would be fine

Id also take a 1Ds3 x2 plus all of the latest L lenses Canon have made...

Not being greedy at all.

on/off switch* from my Pentax.

Don't all Nikons have it in EXACTLY the same place?

Problem sorted.
