I'm so happy this morning, I got my first call from Microsoft to tell me my pc was sending them errors!!!!


To cut a long story short, I strung them on for 6 minutes (would have been hell of a lot longer if I wasn't getting the nipper ready for school). I said my Anti-Virus had popped up with the words "don't trust these scamming c%^$s". I litterally LOL'd when the guy who was on the other end of the phone must have had a severe bout of Torrettes.

Good thing was, few minutes later I got another call off one of his buddies, rinse and repeat, but only 4 minutes this time as I really need to set off to school, lol.




Please gimme more, I've got all afternoon free :)
 
Oh I get two or three calls a week of him and his chums :) I once told one I don't know how it's sending you a message as I don't have a phone line :lol: :lol: and he said oh thanks and hung up :lol: :lol: muppet
 
Happened to me twice, ask them a simple technical question, I asked what a snadbox was, they didn't have a clue.:lol:

Sounds like the same one I spoke to last year. Amused me but must be scary for someone less savvy getting the same treatment.

Well perhaps I'm also a bit dim but I've never heard of a snadbox either :lol::lol::lol:
 
I ask them which computer has sent the message, the MacBook, the Linux server or any other non Windows devices I can think of at the time. I also ask what authorisation they have to monitor my systems and a reference number that I can pass on to my local branch of the FBI...
 
Things to answer with include:

  • I don't have a phone
  • I'm only allowed crayons now after the last incident with Microsoft IT support lead to bloodshed
  • It can't be a problem as I have double glazing
  • Good. Hope their log files explode.
  • I only have mac/linux and they don't do that kind of thing
  • Oh, the cat has been playing with the laptop again.
  • Oh, you want to speak to Bob/Ann and leave them hanging on til they get bored.
 
Whilst you and me find them amusing/annoying, there must be enough people that fall for these scams or they wouldn't be doing them.

Same for the ones who tell me I have had an accident in the last 3 years but can't ell me exactly when.

for sure. my (would be) MiL half fell for it, she let them connect in but didnt give them payment details.

unfortunately ive not had a single one.
 
I think I had one a while ago. Pointed out I had a mac so they were talking rubbish. They hung up. Much like VM tech support if you tell them you have a mac...
 
I once told them that they had come through to the computer room of ACME Computers and had 90 windows which all seemed to have a problem.

I couldn't believe how excited they got, I was even transferred to a supervisor because it was "such a serious problem".

They were very annoyed when I told them after about 10 minutes of messing about that we had a window cleaner who had just been and cleaned all 90 windows and didn't need any more help.
 
I'm sure there is a thread on here some where with the same thing

but this guy had a mac

he strung the guy along saying he could not find a windows logo key the guy asked it is windows he said yes I'm looking at windows (screen)

this was strung up for around 10 mins

they guy asked where did you buy it from pc world

then started laughing and said i own a mac you silly begged guy put phone down

the story was along them lines
 
It's great when we play them at their own game. I really want them to phone me again though, I don't mind stringing them along as the way I see it is that if they are on the phone to me for 10/15 mins then that a few others that they are not trying to scam.
 
Woo hoo, just had another. 27 minutes this time. I ended up with Mr. Tourettes again, but bless him he's a nice chap and by all account has had sex with most of my family :)

New game, how many time can you call them an offensive name during the call before they twig.

My voice sounds terrible when I hear it back recorded lol, too bad an Oldham accent

I had one of those a couple of months back , i strung him along for a good 15 minutes untill we eventually got to the bit where he asked for my credit card number " its.. erm ..13..er no 23... erm 132 no thasts not right.... I'm awfully sorry my accident has left me with short term memory loss and I can't remember" :lol:
