Right, lets keep this thread open for posting your christmas dinner. Christmas dinner is my favourite part of christmas. I look forward to that roast all year and then I think about how good it was all year.

It's a big deal to me!

Take a photo of your dinner and post it here after christmas and lets all choose who's dinner looked the best.

here is mine from last year, I hope my sister can live up to expectations when she cooks this years

not bad, although the roasties look a little burnt

Crispy though  I forgot about them in the oven, Christmas days ones will be nice and fluffy and crispy, I didnt use my usual way of making them which is par boil them and give them a shake in the colander to get the edges roughened up then roast in goose fat, yummy

yes a good technique. Although I usually boil mine more than a bit soft so shaking them does a bit too much damage. As a result i employ a forking technique carefully to each one scratching the surface!

this is how i do it, but at the fluffing stage, add a bit of semolina to it....gives them an extra dimension!

my sister does this too, im not sure if i could taste the difference but it certainly didn't harm them

just helps crisp them up nicer joe, doesn't alter the taste at all!

yeah thats what i meant, they didn't seem any crispier than they normally are from her, but then again if her roasties were any crispier they would be crisps!

That's a lot of meat and potato for one plate. Also the budweiser really ruins that lovely scene!

OMG that looks so deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelish. :D What herb is on the sausages please? I want to try that myself this year - many thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Sarah

Will post my pic on Christmas Day. Have picked up my Kelly Bronze turkey from a local farm (the best free range turkey IMO), as well as a goose from another local farm - will get plenty of fat from that but already have 700ml of fat rendered down from the big lump you get in addition.

Got all my M&S and Waitrose shopping done - TIP - Last few years I have left all my veg in the garage. I have a wooden box that I put it all in - its a bit warmer than in previous years, but it always seems to last much longer and be much fresher then using the fridge!

i dont think ill be able to get any pictures of my christmas dinner but ill take my camera along to work and try to get a few snaps of the ones we serve

too late i ate mine all up lol never thought about taking a pic it would have been good too best dinner i ever cooked

Gressingham duck crown cooked with homemade apple, cinnamon & thyme stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, orange glazed parsnips, rosemary scented broccoli, carrot & swede mash, yorkshire puds [family tradition at christmas] and gravy.... crikey that was flipping good!! :D Stuffed now, allowing to settle before getting stuck into a Heston Black Forest Buche

Dave, is yours a starter?

No Christmas dinner as we've been out for a curry but here's my Sunday roast from a few weeks ago....yes, that is a normal-sized plate!
(One of the benefits of being a keen runner, being able to eat massive amounts of food without any guilt whatsoever.).
