Another question for everyone Do you have a blog section on your website? If not, are you against them and why? If yes, why and what kind of things do you blog about (I can guess the general topic will be 'Photography' or 'My photos,' please be more specific)

I write about all sorts, the equipment used, the places I go, exposure settings, the conditions etc. I enjoy it.

Hi Florian,

I think it depends on why you have a web site. I run web sites for profit and a blog is an essential part of my SEO. I write about topics that are of interest to my intended customers and I hope to create articles that deliver real value to my audience, which are written from a personal perspective.

More than just writing articles and publishing them on a blog though, I publish the first few hundred words of each article on various social sites (I even have tools that do this automatically!) and then link back to my site, so that the articles themselves draw traffic. Then I have a mechanism whereby people have to register in order to read the whole article and the others that are on my sites.

Once registered a user will get a weekly email from me containing the latest article, which keeps me front and centre of their mind and allows me to promote products to them.

I have to be very careful only to promote products that I truly believe in and to ensure that my mailings are relevant and provide good value material, otherwise people simply get bored and leave.
