So tomorrow i am shooting for a regular client of mine . I am shooting one of there large press printers and they are after a variety of shots blah blah blah.

I got a funny comment from the client ( a pr company) in the brief and it made me think about the funny requests i often get from clients often from the most mundane of shoots. They have requested i get some shots of "the printers looking sexy and moody". I find this a great description for a machine and a really funny brief... Whats maybe funnier is i know exactly what they mean and can tell from the brief what they want :cuckoo:

I had a client in the past that was shooting medical supplies, some of it was pretty horrific equipment used in abortions and the brief was to get some friendly shots of the machines...

So whats the funniest brief you have ever had from a client. Or the best way a client has ever described what they want from there shoot?

I am not a professional photographer but a chef, i get some funny requests from time to time, mostly allergies (you would be surprised at some!) and its worse when people have multiple allergies! But that, in my opinion is a sign the human race becoming weaker through paranoia lol
But i do read through this site from time to time, you get some classics
Mostly design based though

An ethnically diverse group of kids is often described as a "mixed group" >_>

SHooting Tough Guy, I've been asked for "make sure you get one of the bloke in the mankini" and "make sure they're in pain"...

One photographer I regularly work with has a general, ongoing brief to "make concrete look sexy".

Ha! On a menu, the client requested Mushroom soup. Apparently I had a complaint.."it's too mushroomy". Also I find many with nut allergies don't mind my curry that contains coconut.

as i understand only a very select few with nut anaphylaxis have a reaction to coconut so i think most of the time your safe enough.
i really do question some peoples allergies, sometimes, i really do think its just a sympathy thing and don't want to seem picky or fussy about what they eat so pass it off as an allergy. granted some people have serious problems and they have to be honoured, or when some have an allergy but dont bother reading up on what they can have or what they cant have and just give a list of what they think they cant have lol buggers

Haha now there is an ego boost.

Haha. GOod it s not just me then. Concrete looking sexy, would love to see how they make that work. TOdays shoot really was a massive square press printer in a messy work room. SEXXXY.

You should have a look at NotAlwaysRight, it's service-related anecdotes..

I agree - there's so many people who have allergies that are "so bad they could die" these days - in years gone by, people must have been dropping down dead in the street all the time!!

I used to work at a local rag and although sexy is debatable, I can tell you there will no problem getting them to look moody, most had an axe to grind about something...

I usually get "do some arty stuff" and "do loads of/don't do wonky shots". And this is from journalists!!!!!

Job was an editorial portrait of a slightly overweight bloke in a suit outside a football stadium.

I got 2 pages of brief, telling me how to do my job and loads of cobblers written by media types sat round glass tables in London. Wish I'd still got it, a really good example of how not to brief photographers .

Best line was "We want to emphasise the hero quality of the sitter"
