Yes
It's nearly that time guys, hopefully we can get a discussion going here and maybe a little idea sharing.

What are your photography aims for 2011? Are you looking to do any specific projects or specific work in the New Year?

Myself, I have a bit of travelling coming up next year so hoping to improve my travel photos and pick up some cracking shots on my travels to Morocco, Wales, Sweden and maybe Holland.

Finish work on this - my hobby studio

want. Would give a limb for an awesome flexible space to work from at the moment.

Lots more assisting.
I have a single, LARGE project that I'm busy working out budgets, logistics and preproduction etc for - 7 shots total, but crew of about 5 plus talent to pull it off - will take 2 or 3 sets being built plus location work...watch this space.

Will be watching this thread with interest

That studio space is superb, I would like to do similar in my garage but don't think the ceiling height is enough

My 2011 hopes are...

1. Use my cameras more and make some time for photo projects
2. Try out different styles to my normal stuff
3. Investigate garage studio
4. Try and make some money from my shots
5. Participate in local clubs

@newbeee: That is some space you have, best of luck with getting that completed, should be a brilliant space once it's finished.

@MagicMynx: Something else on my list as well, my understanding is basic and I would like to expand my knowledge and learn some more setups.

@itsdavedotnet: Sounds brilliant, keep us all updated :)

I would also like to look at a 365, anyone have any tips or ideas? I was thinking of just posting a general photo a day rather than portraits. Maybe I should try a 52 week think first.

Thats one of my goals for 2011, ill be opting for a 52 though.

My other goal is to start and finish the OCA Art of Photography course and continue to move forward into 2012 & 2013 to get my degree.

I am doing a friend's wedding next summer

I would like to start doing a bit of street / candid photography maybe.

other than that, I have got a Norway trip in january and trying to decide on another big photographic trip for 2011.

I really need to get back into photography again.
I've been absent form this forum since spring, alot of things have happened this year - had to move house twice, work got really busy - and I've hardly used my camera. In fact I have photos I took in March that I haven't even taken off my camera yet :(

So my main aim will be to re-learn everything I learnt before, take lots of photos just for the fun of it, maybe get involved in a '52' project again ... and start taking a camera everywhere with me instead of forgetting I own one :)

will be joining the 52'ers again.. bombed out this year as I was doing that and a 365.. fell behind on the 52 and it got too much to catch up on.. the 365 did my head in by july, photography had become a chore and that wasn't good.. big relief when I called it a day :D

i too will be joining in with the '52' theme. but my main aim is to start taking more portraits, using family, friends and friends of friends etc to gain experience with the aim of setting up a part-time business doing just that.

so experience building and equipment gathering are my main priorities for 2011

Having lost my brother in February 2010 everything took a back seat. I just haven't had the drive or desire to carry on with anything this year, I have started some projects but then lost the will to carry on with them.

So my focus for 2011 is too take up the batton once more and push myself beyond my normal limitations, to take on and achieve some of the things I had planned for this year.

I am actually looking forward to 2011.

I'm spending this year looking for a focus, I'd like to be shooting a big project with an eye to picking up some exposure among my potential client base and getting my name out there for the more interesting jobs. So exhibiting somewhere I feel :D

Also like Dave says a studio space would be helpful so I'm looking at options for the long term like letting a unit or building a space

Personally things have got a little stale just shooting equestrian all the time so I'm looking to mix things up a bit more next year. Maybe join the crowds doing the 52s? Hopefully Santa might bring me some new lighting toys so we'll see..

I'm thinking about the 52 but I'm not sure I'm reliable enough! :shake:

I also want to make sure I get out more with the camera rather than spending my days off lying about doing naff all! :D

Firstly, though, I really need to get the basics more firmly understood and would like to be shooting fully manual at some point in the first two or three months of 2011! :)

I really want to branch into portraits as they terrify the pants off me, so I'm mulling over a couple of projects to get me out of my comfort zone for 2011.

A 52 (or maybe just a 12 :) ) might be good to add some variety as well - I find it too easy to stick with what I know (which isn't much to be fair).

My goal for 2011 is to get a flash gun and then to learn how to use it properly. Also I need to get my arse out of the house to use the camera.

52 seems really popular, if everyone gives it a go and shares their work should have some fab pictures.

I'm thinking of "following" someone I know for 52 portraits, and why not make it interesting and use the same lens. I have seen people do projects just using a prime lens. Think my 2011 is sorted.

I have a website to go live soon so my 2011 is dedicated to getting something worth putting online. I might try a 52 need a theme .....

2011 projects

- finally submit my portfolio to the RPS for the APRS distinction.
- I'm on the list for an exhibition locally, so hoefully that may come off:)

I might even get round to taking some more photos for my ongoing industrial landscape project, priorities in 2010 has been work and a new baby.

Sounds good, best of luck with these. Keep us posted.

Would love to look at a local exhibition one time.

This year has just about seen itself out. Good thing too... It has been one hell of a year, that for sure.

It started off OK... was just getting into the 52 that started... and in Feb went back to South Africa (where I am from) for the 1st time in about 7 years. I went on a emotional roller coaster partly because of that trip... work has been pretty hectic, not knowing if the job would come to an abrupt end or not.

March saw me take a tumble that had me ending up with my arm in a cast from a cracked elbow... you try holding a camera with a cast from fingertip to sholder.

That came off... and I was just getting the use of my arm back, when I took a fall on the bike, and broke my thumb. A real good break... 6 weeks in a cast... and another few weeks after that came off with bandages while my fingers / thumb still had the last remaining pin. I am just getting the use of my thumb back now thanks to physio and hopefully it will be good by the end of the year.

This lot threw into the clutches of that beast know as depression... somehow it really paralizes a person, and one of the "victims" of this has been my photography. I have shots taken in February that I still need to get round to processing. I AM going to get to them.

So, I hope 2011 will be a better year. I'll be happy with just getting some some photos that will leave me satisfied. No big challenges yet.
