You walk into a darkened/poorly lit room - What do you do 1st?

Have you considered the fact that people out for the night having a quiet drink might not appreciate having someone start taking phots of them with or without flash?

My usual set up for something like this would probably be Nikon 24-70mm on camera which is in manual mode, around f/5.6 1/80th, ISO800, flash on camera in iTTL with a Demb Flip-it.

Almost exactly an identical reply to what I would have saisd with the exception I'b be wider than F5.6. OP - the flip-it is brill

bounce flash off ceiling, side wall or even wall behind me (or some combo of) and fire away.

I have had a google of the flip-it and it looks like an interesting piece of kit. I love that there is a DIY way to make someone for photography (its the sort of thing i'm used to with my aquarium)

Yes I did.

He mentioned he was out with family having a meal, not round the local shooting candids.

Isn't this supposed to be a constructive and friendly forum?

I was merely pointing out the fact that not everybody wants to be photographed. One fella started taking pics in a boozer that I frequented a few years ago and was told in no uncertain terms where to go and was eventually barred. My comments weren't being unconstructive or unfriendly.

let one out and try an capture it!

I have put one of the photos from the night on THIS TP SHARE THREAD

So if you want to comment that would be great.

For anyone who just wants to see the photo then its here...
