He took six pictures - two showed police, two were blank and one was out of focus.

The remaining one is now being shown everywhere – a shocked Andrew leaning back on a car seat, his eyes reflecting the photographers' flashes at night in what's known as the red-eye effect.

I hope he gets a decent payoff for it, sounds like he earned it

Red-eye…pfft amateur
Feels like one of those pictures that will have a long life. Lost count of how many times i’ve seen it today never mind the memes already being produced.

It's quite a good picture. Of course we don't know what was going through AMW's mind at that moment, but it does nicely convey a sense of shock.

It might be more accurate to say you only need THE one in focus. All the rest don't matter.

The red eye seems perfectly in keeping with the photos from the US DoJ drop that I've seen - if only he'd managed to throw in a load of spelling errors he'd have fully captured the zeitgeist

i remember reading about the photograper that took THE picture of the yorkshire ripper, he had been asked to take company shots of the staff that worked at a haulage company, one of them just happened to be peter sutcliffe, when he was arrested a couple of years later that was the picture on the front of all the newspapers across the world, bought a house with a swimming pool on the proceeds
