I was out this afternoon in the wilds of Derbyshire at Stanage Edge just minding my own business waiting for the light to be 'just right' on the landscape shots I was hoping for. When I noticed a chap walking along the lane with one hell of a lens hanging over his shoulder.

We nodded and said hello - as you do to fellow 'togs then we got chatting some more. Turns out this chap was non other than Geoff Simpson, author, magazine contributor and this month he has a few pages about Northumberland in the Digital SLR User magazine (May). I had already seen this article so kinda knew what some of his images were like.

He had spent today in the cold, the morning was 3" deep in snow up there and he was packing up at about 6 this evening. Thoroughly nice guy, we spent about 10 mins talking in the sleet/snow/rain and howling wind on top of Stanage. Showed me what he had been shooting with his 1Ds MkII and MONSTER lens.

Just got in myself from my jaunt and went straight to his web site for a look - some stunning images on there, you can certainly see how he gets so many front covers.

Sounds good. Its nice when you get out and see other togs and just get chatting. Never mind to someone more pro like.

Btw got a link to his site?
