You are not a photographer

I think as a bit of fun it's an interesting insight of the American psyche nevermind questionable photography skills. Some of those shots got a genuine WTF from me.
I suppose as lond as the clients were happy with them then thats all that matters.

If this was posted on any other forum outside of photography, it would go down as hilarious, I doubt one person would complain. Why do some photographers get so sore about anything photography related like it's personal to them?...

Agreed.

Oh dear god.

I think Instagram has made this a lot worse. Whilst it can be used correctly, I've seen some complete lack of knowledge with regards to Depth of Field, and trying to recreate Bokeh, that's created some images that some might go 'oh it looks fine' but anyone who knows anything will go 'that's not right...'. That said, they think it looks lovely.

Personally, I'm quite new to photography. I'm currently building up a portfolio of photos, and having a 6D, I'm sure plenty would say that for someone so new, I better know how to use it. The thing is, I'm learning as fast as I can, and I've got very high standards for myself. So out of a typical shoot, my keep rate tends to be really low. That's not because any of the photos are particularly 'bad', I'd say 90-95% are in focus with correct exposure etc... It's just that as something that may one day represent me in a portfolio, I want them to be absolutely fantastic.

Theres a difference between taking the **** out of amatures and/or those "learning the ropes" and this site though.

Rather its a reaction agenst the spread of very poor self styled professionals caused by both digital photography and social media. I'm guessing alot of these individuals are well aware of how poor there work is but simpley don't care aslong as there able to make money from it.

If we were talking the direct selling of prints or stock images(telling that neither seem to be featured at all) then the "if people buy it" arguement is easy to make but almost all the pictures featured here are individual comissions where the buyer is either likely to have paid in advance or agreed to do so.
