Yosemite and mobile broadband dongles

Can you not use a MiFi which works with everything as you connect wirelessly to it

as above, saves all issues with drivers and works with everything.

I have a MiFi on 3 No problems with Yosemite or iOS

Beauty with these devices,is that you are not limited to a laptop, they work well with phones and tablets. You'll find them a bit more expensive than a dongle, but the ability to connect to multiple devices out ways this

I just use my phone in hotspot mode. No need to carry another device or have another contract.

Dejongi - I have 15Gb with Three for £10 a month on my Mifi. It means ai don't have to worry about my laptop doing Windows Updates or how much syncing in dropbox is needed.

I tether to my mobile (vodafone) when my Mifi can't get signal.

Yes same here. I've got 36GB on my phone. It's plenty and do updates, download VM appliances the lot. Most times it is faster than hotel internet as well.

I'd concur with just using another device as the access point. I used my iPad Air under 3 over Crimbo quite happily, getting my MBP online without having to shell out for a separate plan for a MiFi. (The iPhone's on O2's network, via GiffGaff, so that's another option when the signal's gnarly)

Same here, iphone on o2 and ipad on ee, so no mattere where i am 9 out of 10 time i get a decent 4g signal on 1 of the devices, and then just tether to that from macbook..
