Yorkshire meet - Sunday 26th November

So you want to go out to the moors at the end of November? :eek: Just remember to take your thermals as it will certainly be v-e-r-y cold...brrrr.
Sounds like a beautiful location, but after taking some shots of the rocks, there isn't much else there :thinking:

What I meant was that if we go to Brimham Rocks, is there going to be plenty to do to keep us entertained for a full day? If the weather is really pants and absolutely belting it down, is there shelter or are we gonna be stuck out in the open? I know for a fact that Yorkshire has the most beautiful scenery around - it's not called Gods Country for nothing ;)

I have the same concerns as Minimeeze. I admit I've never been to Brimham Rocks, but all the photos I ever seen are of, well...rocks - and they don't look that interesting :) .
What else is there immediately in the area? Are we going to be faced with short car trips to multiple points of interest in the area, rather than a good walk in an area with plenty of interesting and varied subjects to take a pics of :shrug: .

As I said, I've never been there, so there may well be LOTS to do there, but it does'nt sound like it :)

I'm up for the walk, but only if someone car carry the O2 and de-fib that I will need half way through :gag:
 
Ideal world suggestion/request:

Cant do long walks cos of health issues so thats out. But somewhere with interesting scenery in a reasonably contained area. Water, that would be good. Dying to try some water fall or tumbling over rocks type long exposure shots. A bit of wild life would be nice as well, four legged rather than an angry TPer who's just dropped their camera. Oh and food, even fish and chips :D
 
Hmmmmm.

long walk isn't really something I fancy either - not with my full kit on my back anyway.
 
Is there a way to find out what events will be on and where?

I know its the back end of November so there may not be any, but it's worth a try maybe?

Isn't there a huge park somewhere in Bradford that recently won best park in Britain?
 
Ingleton has waterfalls.... another alternative could be the coast :shrug:
 
Lister park, also know as Manningham Park in which is Cartwright Hall.

lol - sorry to laugh, but just read the whole 4 pages of this thread and its one big loop :D

Theres nothing like a good debate hey? ;)

P.S The only one of the thing listed here that I know anything about is Lister Park - It isn't that exciting, some nice shots special when Autumn, finaly, arrives, but apart from that you would stuggle to find anything to do for more than an hour or so - but there is a pub, and a chippy! :p

Sorry to throw another one into the pot, but has anyone been to Malham Cove? Supposed to be good, but I think the cove is the only real thing of interest.

I have also been told that Bolton Abbey (think was mentioned somewhere) is a good location, there is the Abbey and then lovely walks down the river (and a nearby steam railway)

Bolton Abbey sounds ace, although it's very dependant on the weather, and the days aren't getting warmer. Personally I don't mind a bit of cold weather :) But just making sure everyone's aware...
 
Bolton Abbey, the riverside walks up the Stridd and nearby railway would be good IMO (though I've never been on the railway). There are a few cafes around there to warm up in :) .

I don't think Malham would be upto much in November. Very open countyside, so if its windy....brrrrrr :eek: . The Cove itself is OK, but the rest of the place would'nt occupy much time IMO.

Ohhh now I am excited! There is nothing like having a 2 1/2 year old to get you excited about trains!
 
I think you are still a 2 1/2 year old so of course you can get excited by trains ;)
