OK you togs from Yorkshire, want to have a self catering cottage in Yorkshire for a week or two this summer .
Theres Dot,me and the dog, I've found a catalogue that'll take pets, but we have only ever had hols in Whitby so don't really know our way about.

Want to have somewhere with good walks for the dog, near to a good town or city for a shopaholic and preferably close to some good picture opportunities. don't mind driving from it to the shops if within 30 or 40 mins.
:D:D help.

My inlaws stay at one at Culgaith. They take two dogs. We stayed with them also for a weekend. Directly opposite a pub! Nice quiet village too.
I will get details if you want.

This cottage on the coast at Ravenscar, South of Whitby is available from the National Trust http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/north_of_england/yorkshire/low_peak/255. I think it'll be expensive but the scenery would be worth it!

We often stay at

www.sinningtoncommonfarm.co.uk

They have a few different self catering units on the farm from 2 small cheap barn conversions to a lovely detached bungalow. The lady that owns the farm loves animals and welcomes dogs. It is a working farm with sheep, horses, goats etc and long walks across the fields. Its about 7 miles from Pickering.

Helmsley? Short walk to Rievaulx Abbey.

near enough to thirsk/york/scarborough, coxwold, etc.
Theres a lavender farm out that way somewhere - near Castle Howard (house where brideshead revisited was filmed)

Have a look at the National trust site to see various interesting places and choose a village around about.
