HI
Just bought the above flash unit and have noticed that the test/pilot button is VERY hard to push in to fire/test the unit. I want to use the unit for light painting so just want to point it and fire the unit. Has anyone else noticed this please or does it get easier.
Thanks

Hi,

I just receive one today, and I feel just the same. Buttons are excellent, except that one.

Also, mine makes some continuous sound (noise) when it's on. Does yours also do that?

Hi Luis
Haven't noticed the sound, will have a listen tomorrow. I contacted Amazon, who contacted the seller, and they said they'd refund me £15 if I were to keep it. That makes it £21....worth keeping for that kind of money.

Nice discount, John!
You have the 1st version, right?

The noise I noticed is a continuous sound that I can only hear with the flash next to my ear. There is also an intermittent sound, more a less every 2 seconds.
Can anybody check if this is normal?

I have a 560, it doesn't make any obvious noise. That test button is a right pain, I find using the corner of the nail on my thumb the best for pressing it.

I paid about £70 for mine about a year ago, so definitely worth it for that money.

Really?
Not even if you "press it" to your ear in a silent room? (sorry, these not the best words to describe it...).

Thanks.

If you have to put it to your ear to hear it, I wouldn't worry. My SB900s make a kind of high pitched noise at times in TTL mode - it's normal, afaik. Though, the YN-560 doesn't do TTL, so it's a bit strange, but probably still ok.

Most flashes make a noise, my 560 was the quietest I've ever come across. Test button always used to work with a gentle fondle on mine, wouldn't work at all if you tried to press it!

There are two different noises in my flash:

1 - a continuous hmmmmmmmmmm , that can only be heard if we're really close to the flash;
2 - an intermittent sound, almost like a clock's second's pointer, each two seconds.

It doesn't bother me at all, as long as it is normal. I have a small Polaris flash and a Canon 430 EX II and none of them do this.

Thanks.

ps: john, sorry for stolen your thread... :\
